Optima Yellow Top Batteries

Please excuse me for starting a New post because I saw this Topic yesterday (But now I can't find it) Optima Yellow top Battery a AGM Battery. What is the benefit of paying close to $200.00 for an extra Battery? I stopped where I get my parts/oil/filters, etc. Can it keep a Diesel engine heater working? if so how? Thanks for all who know what advantage it offers.

I don't know about for a truck but we bought one of the yellow optima batteries at a
yard sale for $5.00. Worked Great for the trolling motor on our boat.

The purpose of a yellow top is to power things like a laptop, fridge, TV without idling your engine. They are worth the $150 because idling burns up to 1/2 gal of fuel/hr, plus that extended idling wears out your engine.

By 'diesel engine heater' I assume you mean a block heater. The block heaters I looked at take 500-600 watts of power, which is a lot. I doubt that a yellow top could power one of them for more than 1/2 hour before running dry.
