Night, I read each thread like it is testable if I read it. (even between the lines a lot) seen many a half (or less) disclosures. And it read like bs to me.

My best (unsolicited) advice to anyone getting into this (or any) business, is..... the very first thing you hafta do is, purge the :censoredsign: bird employee attitude.

The more you have control over, the more in control you are. O.K., sounds kind of dumb saying it that way, but the point is you're giving the company control over something that could have you out of service if not handled competently. I'm thinking back to the days when many were plated in Oklahoma and had the INCREDIBLY incompetent boobs at Fern Bennett handling their registrations. I know of several cases where people had to sit because it wasn't taken care of in a timely manner. One extreme case, a good friend of mine whose plate was lost, most likely stolen, in Chicago and he sat for 3 weeks waiting for a replacement plate. Had he not been with the INCREDIBLY incompetent boobs at Bennett, he would have been working that 3 weeks. I take care of my own plate and wouldn't have it any other way.

Just remember,if the company buys your IRP plate, they own it.Should you leave, they keep the plate. Then you have to go thru the registration process all over again.

2 things.....recruiters do not order plates....in this case the recruiter probably did not even KNOW there would be a moratorium on NEW plates coming up....when they were informed, they let you know. If the title to your truck is in YOUR name then you can go to ANY state and get plated...even Ohio and only pay the pro-rate till the plates expire which is March......that should cost you about 200$. After that have Panther get your plates. You are irp SO YOU CAN PLATE IN ANY STATE. If you cannot afford 200$ to get the plates till end of march, well I do not really know what to say because I believe that you do...but have not thought of this option.

I dont know where your getting your information, but you better have an address where you are getting your plates. If the company you are leased to gets your late, they are doing this in their state,or a state they have an address in.Also, anyone dumb enough to put thier liscense plate in the companies name, well you asking for lots of grief, especially if you find in a short time that company doesnt fit your needs, cause then your buying that liscense plate twice,or more if you fall into the same trap.

DreamTeam 44, I don't know who you are leasing to and it is none of my business

these are the things that you have to have in order to tag a truck.

Lease with company, road use tax stamped form, proof of insurance from company, copy of bill of sale, tag application for new truck, MCS 150 for company, Schedule A IRP form from your state.

They accept Checks, Cash and Credit
card. U will need an address in your home state. You should be able to go to orientation and when you gather your lease and paperwork, you can go to tag office and get your own tag. You can also download all the paperwork you need from internet. Call your tag office (not county..the IRP office) and see what you need and they will help you

It is best to have your own tag in case you are not happy at company and want to leave. When you go your tag is yours and they can't
take it from you.

Hope this helps you out.

ok......I just got off the phone with someone at Panther who I called about this issue. In Ohio.....the license department freezes all IRP accounts from adding or removing trucks during the renewel process. Panther has to send them a list of all the trucks they buy IRP for...the state then audits the list and compares to theirs..this process takes about 4 weeks, after which time Panther receives a bill from the state of ohio for the IRP's. Panther then overnites a check to the state for renewels and the IRP account is "unfrozen". Panther can then order new plates. To help new operators coming on..Panther will Advance you the needed funds to plate your truck where you live...and take it out of your settlement just as if they purchased for you. So call your recruiter...or pm me and tell me who you recruiter is and we can get this resolved.

It seems to me that if you have a biz credit line of $50,000, $1800 for plates should be no problem and as others have pointed out you have much more control over your destiny.

While most states don't recognize OK plates like they used too I used Fern Bennet's group for many years and never had any problems with them.

It seems like used to everybody had OK tags on either their truck or their trailer. Plus I knew of quite a few that had an Oklahoma address so they could buy equipment without paying sales tax. They would have an Oklahoma city on their truck under the Arkansas city they were actually based out of. I don't see much of that anymore.
