You're right - it's Big Brother no matter how you slice it. Can you imagine the outcry if the mainstream media heard of this kind of intrusivness coming from the Bush administration? And to think people complained about the Patriot Act.

Indeed and that could be said of MANY of the things that are going on in this administration.

A little off topic, but, this is some really scary stuff. For those of us that are on the road, many of us do more stuff on the computer than maybe a normal person does. How many of us do all our banking online, pay bills, keep in contact with others etc. Just wondering if all of this will be the nails in our coffins at some point. Kinda makes me feel like this little square box could become our worst nightmare.

You're right, Pelicn...it is pretty spooky when ya think about it. Here we sit in front of the thing, having no way of really knowing who's looking into our lives.

Who gives a darn..this is America...fend for themselves...we did....we don't owe our grown kids anything...lat them work it off like we did....it is the American way after all.....

Maybe you misunderstood...my intention is not to leave my family monetary......they've all been hard workers all their lives and far better parents than I ever was....it is to do all that I can to leave them their country in tact!

The country will be fine...it is just growing pains....growing pains hurt....

I'll ask you this question....

you've been to Canada...

What freedoms don't they have, that Americans have?

Are Canadians suppressed? Are they slaves? do they not buy and do what they want? Are they not just people working and playing and raising their kids? Nobody stands over them and tells them what to do....they have the same choices you have...Ask JuJu what it is like..

So not to chance the subject Diva/OVM but I was watching our great news tonight, the one that is so slanted towards the auto companies and I choked on my coffee of what I heard in the three minute segment.

1 - the reporter was interviewing a dealership owner who has sold his monthly inventory in four days. He claims that this has produced so many jobs that the congress should put 10 billion into the program. He also mentioned that the WH said to keep selling them, they will cover the money.

2 - our great Candice Miller (r)Mi made the same comment as did our great Sandra Levin (d)Mi, so many jobs have been created by this program that it would be "foolish" not to continue it.

3 - cut back to the reporter who is interviewing a new car buyer, she is turning in her old car for a new Ford Explorer which apparently the dealer has a special code to put into the website to get that money because it appears that the car is not supposed to get any money because it gets less miles than what she had.

4 - my wife checked again today with a dealer out in Ann Arbor if our van qualifies, it did the other day but now it doesn't. Apparently "Flex Fuel" vehicles were approved and now not approved because the EPA changed the rules.

5 - do you know that they could have written this law in five pages but decided that they needed 300 pages, and no one read the law when it was passed?

6 - When are the 2006 models clunkers and why are they not targeting cars that are older than 25 years old?

I agree with your #6 idea....they really should have gone after the old clunkers..the rust buckets....I mean if they want green that would have been the way to go....

So you don't agree with the rest?

How about 5, they could have made the entire bill five pages long with the main part of the law on the first page;

Cars older than X and getting below the level of X as determined by the EPA's fuel mileage standards for that specific car qualify.

The owners will get X for every 3 miles a gallon above X of the trade in.

Cars of any age qualify, anything that was not rated by the EPA, mileage is set at 15 mpg.

This excludes pickups, commercial vehicles and
leased vehicles.

Then it would spell out the details of paying the dealers on two of the four pages left. With the other two the standard congress cr*p.

I think what bothers me the most is I can not buy a diesel and lease vehicles also are included which they are not owned by the person getting the money. Commercial vehicles should be excluded by the fact that they are commercial vehicles.
