OK. I get it now. I don't know how much time the position of alternate board member and board member would require. If it is a lot, that may be the reason why few leased drivers try for it. An own-authority owner operator would have more freedom.

Not always true.
I don't see the problem with an expediter as a board member or alternative. They are in the business, they represent a segment of the business but still bring the same need to speak for and present any other sides of an issue of that segment.
The really, really disheartening part is.......y'all CONTRACTORS consider y'sef's Owner Operators......when yer really Contractors. They'll take yer money jes the same.
And there is a difference!!!!!!!

Such is true for many of us, the same goes for that freedom part too, but some think that employee thing.
Nevertheless, some of us have seen the light and now are the Owner and the Operator.
