One more issue is APPOINTMENT TIMES

This one really blisters my behind sometimes and that's putting it mildly. Ever get freight bills that say: Call 24 hours in advance for an appointment??? OK you call and you WILL take the appointment time they give you!!! Then you travle a distance and find yourself sitting backed up at an accident for 6 hours. WELL so much for the appointment. Now, under excellent conditions, lets use the following as an example: You pick up a load and head for your destination. You drive 11 hours--sit for 3 hours and at this point and I stress YOU ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A 10 HOUR BREAK---BUT--Your appointment time is still 3 hours from now!!! What do you do??? Sit another day for another appointment??? If you do, in a short time you'll find yourself broke---SO, probably, just as I have, you take a nap with your clock set to keep your appointment---FALSIFYING LOGS in the meantime. Having spent most of my life on the road, SAFETY has become a very big issue with me. SO--Who wants to stand with me and tell receivers that they can have their shipment as soon as I am LEGALLY able to deliver it. I vote for appointment times being when you arrive perhaps on a first come first serve basis. I plan to bring some attention to this issue not only on a state but on a Federal level as well. Anyone with me???

Reads like s Story from WALLYWORLD=Walmart. The simple answer is say NO. I personally will not accept a load going to a Walmart warehouse to many rules just unload the darn freight sign for it and let me go.

We are expediters for crying out loud not LTL or full truck load and the appointed time given at Dispatch should be honored or else pay for layover. I would prefere not to be held up than paid the miniumal amount this comes to.

When I drove t/t, any friction at all with the customer was the dispatcher's job to sort out, not mine. If you are driving independently, then you are the dispatcher, and you might have to remind whoever it is that you cannot legally drive "whatever it takes" to make their deadline. They already know this, and if they give you a hard time, then tell them "thanks, but no thanks". Don't accept a load you can't legally deliver on time, Pappy, cause if it bites you, it's gonna hurt!x(
