This one really blisters my behind sometimes and that's putting it mildly. Ever get freight bills that say: Call 24 hours in advance for an appointment??? OK you call and you WILL take the appointment time they give you!!! Then you travle a distance and find yourself sitting backed up at an accident for 6 hours. WELL so much for the appointment. Now, under excellent conditions, lets use the following as an example: You pick up a load and head for your destination. You drive 11 hours--sit for 3 hours and at this point and I stress YOU ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A 10 HOUR BREAK---BUT--Your appointment time is still 3 hours from now!!! What do you do??? Sit another day for another appointment??? If you do, in a short time you'll find yourself broke---SO, probably, just as I have, you take a nap with your clock set to keep your appointment---FALSIFYING LOGS in the meantime. Having spent most of my life on the road, SAFETY has become a very big issue with me. SO--Who wants to stand with me and tell receivers that they can have their shipment as soon as I am LEGALLY able to deliver it. I vote for appointment times being when you arrive perhaps on a first come first serve basis. I plan to bring some attention to this issue not only on a state but on a Federal level as well. Anyone with me???
