While sitting here in Effinghaam someone told me about Dr Diesel so I went to him to see if he could do any thing to increase the fuel mileage he he hooked his computor up and analized the factory settings then installed a custom tune for better fuel economy. He sai I should notice A difference right away. I will keep you posted on the mileage. Has anyone ever used this guy before? Let me know.

I have heard of company drivers taking their company trucks to a "DeiselDoctor" and having the governor removed and then installing a code that prevented the governor being reset without the correct password.

I know just enough about diesels to get myself in serious and expensive trouble if i was to try and work on them...Now as for resetting the computer engine management controls..i can tell you a good "Tech" on gas motors that knows his way around the ECM and TCM computers can tailor the program in any vehcile to how it is driven for the most part and increase mile, increase performance within a certain settings, towing or high performance any number of ways...so i would have to believe that the same can be done with a diesel...it would all depend on how good the person making the changes really is....

Let us know how you make out and where the changes made a difference...did you lose power on accel, did you lose torque at other areas of the power band, were there any other improvements other then an increase in mileage, were there any changes that were determintal??? Let us know...

I give Dr Diesel an A+ It feels like a whole different engine Acceleration response is amazing I used to hold my foot around half way while the tranny would shift through the geers it would shift to 10nth geer at 55mph and then I would accelerate a little more to get to 60 mph or whatever. Now i keep my foot in the same place but at geers 6 through 10 i have to let off the accelerater a little to keep it from accelerting to quickly and at 10th geer it accelertes to 65mph very quickly without adding any extra pressure to the pedal. I was having a blast on I-65 around KY and TN on that uphill I was flying up that hill with no problem and could actually accelerte very quickly while going uphill. I have to retrain myself with the accelerator.got into alot of construcion going from IL to IA at costant speeds of 45 to 60 mph got an average mpg of 13.4 at a constant speed of 70 to 75 mph I got an average mpg of 12.6 WOW!! seems to be about A 1.5 mpg gain. I will keep posting as i keep driving. Best 100 bucks I spent. FYI I hve A 07 freightliner class 8 D unit Tandem drives with A CAT 435 HP ACERT. It goes so fast I have to use the jake going up hill...(just kidding)

I’m going to agree with you guys that the diesel doctor is definitely worth a try he did wonders for me. The problem I had though is I apparently got lied to by a girl in a suv with a laptop in davenport she assured me that she was the sister of the "real diesel doctor" Trent she said. I believed her and paid 300 cash for my Detroit 60 for more power she plugs in and does her thing I get a hand written receipt, which is fishy to me. So I leave the next morning and I can drive faster but that’s all I notice still dropping gears same fuel mileage I try to call her and no answer after 5 or 6 phone calls I just say f### it I got screwed. Couple weeks later I'm in Effingham so I stop behind Hardees there at the petro exit and I see a grey trailer with diesel doctor on it so I go and explain I didn't get what I paid for. He laughed and said let me guess a person with a laptop in a vehicle cash only and now they won't answer. He said we get this story a lot. He then explained he sued that group and that they are still apparently able to survive by suckers like me. He plugged in couple mins later he said give that a try boy could I tell the difference I gladly paid him he said please spread the word against these imitators out there he showed me his trade mark from 2002 and he owns the lot he sits on. He is the real diesel doctor and stands behind what he does anyone looking for the real diesel doctor be aware the only one is in Effingham behind Hardees at the 159 anyone else is a imitator I’m a avid forum believer in getting the truth out here in this trucking industry I'm so mad that there are people out there low enough to lie and take my money without batting a eye I will post this everywhere to let the truth be know that the real diesel doctor is Diesel Dr. Diagnostics - Auto Repair Shop | Effingham, IL and hope that I can help detour anyone else from also loosing their money to those imitators

Did he just tune the ecm? Or did he add a secondary harness to the ecm?

No extra harness, just a tweak on the ECM. I tried to contact him to see if he could do something with my MBE 900 and he never called back.

I've actually gotten loads out of Effingham on several different occasions. There is a company that makes plastic rolls out there that ships expedite loads to Pennsylvania. Don't knock the weird areas, because they might throw you a bone from time to time.
