On Hold Record Shattered

I got my van out of the body shop this afternoon and called Panther to get the Safety Hold removed and go back into service. I was on hold for 72 minutes, that's 1 hour and 12 minutes! I did the math.

During that time I got re-routed 3 times back to a customer service person. I told the third customer service person that I had been on hold for 68 minutes waiting to talk to the safety supervisor and I wanted to be put through to safety NOW. I got put on hold for another few minutes, I heard a ring and got dumped into a voicemail box. No department name or recipients name was given in the voice mail greeting.

In my message I stated that I had been on hold for 72 minutes and then started screaming about being attacked by a giant lobster and needed some lemon and melted butter. I hung up and ate dinner. Homemade tortilla soup, not lobster.

About an hour later I got through to safety and e-mailed my repair bill. I should be off the Safety Hold and back in service sometime in the future.

72 minutes on hold beats my previous record of 38 minutes. I'm proud to be a Panther Patsy and thank them for giving me the opportunity to set this new personal record.

I parted ways with P2 after being placed on terminal hold one too many times. If I do not matter to them, they don't matter to me. My vans run for smaller carriers now. This arrangement works better for me.

i pulled into a t/a for light repair, "after hours" and the shop tech tried the number that they had, and the menu took her to are you a customer trying to track your freight???
so i gave them the drivers number, and when it got to the menu, she pressed 1 ( the oh **** i just ran over and killed people line) they answered quickly, but were not happy.

Very funny Randy. I just checked the website. I'm still on safety hold. Gotta wonder how this company stays in business. Is the government giving them federal aid for running a sheltered workshop?

G,

Very funny Randy.
Considering how much Moot-mirth™ you grace us with, I felt obliged to make a feeble attempt to reciprocate :D

Don't worry - they're bound to need to cover a Canada load or swap soon ..... then they'll call ya .... safety hold or not ....

Mmmm ... ah yes .. diversification ..... that might just be it ....

BTW, I do feel your pain - I had the attached happen in the Martin's parking lot in Logansport, IN about a week or so ago, when a women decided she needed to back up ..... just a little ..... to make a turn (it was actually about 75' - she just threw 'er in reverse ..... and let'r rip .... forget that looking behind ya crap .....)

That followed on the heels of my wife backing up my son's Savanna into my passenger door, a couple of months ago.

(BTW, what is it with this "I must back up into your door" thing anyways ?)

Shouldn't this thread be in the Panther Forum so outsiders are not able to comment on your carrier's inadequacies?

The Paranormal Institute will be contacting you shortly on this astounding photographic evidence of the elusive "oil slick ghost".

Inadequacies ? Surely you jest ?

In these hard times, diversification shows business-savvy and quick, nimble-witted thinking .... (or something like that)

Since they don't seem to be in a real big hurry to get 'em off the safety board to cover loads, perhaps equipping each member of the fleet with their own personal Grit route (or chinchilla breeding pair, for those that are allergic to newsprint) will be next .....

When my dad was leased to Central he'd spend literally hours on the phone waiting to get his trailer# to the point he'd fall asleep in the lazy boy with the phone on his chest, and I'd walk in hearing someone on the phone yelling his name.So I'd wake him up, grab his keys, go out and start the truck and pre-trip it while he was getting ready to leave. It seems like the bigger the company, the worse it gets trying to get through.

I had the Same Problem with Panther a Couple of years back! Seems Nobody wants to answer the Phones! My Co-Driver and I had Just Transferred from "Conway", I Had to Fax Mine and Hers Drivers License (7) Different Times, After Faxing Each Time I Tried to Call Safety to make sure that they Got it, and NEVER Got to Talk to a Person, Only the Voice Mail! I Finally got to Talk to a Safety Person while Under a Load they Had Called me "Again" for The Fax of Our Drivers Licenses because they said that they Never Got Them, I Wouldn't let the Safety Person End the Call Until I Faxed them the Last Time and she told me that she had Received it! I See that they Still Haven't Changed Any!

Obviously the execs who were on the road didn't experience any of the normal things Panther driver's experience.

What would happen if they had a 30 minute hold time?

Just remember all these carriers work for us,,We dont work for them. (at least thats what the orientation folks said).

Wait time on phone for us has gotten just as bad..Now its nothing other then macros over the QC..Show arrival dont answer phone if freights not ready and collect wait time,No more using my phone to keep em informed.Dont go out of service for repairs anymore,,Just turn the load down if one hits ya..Im still asking safetly how to log phone time,,Losing up to 1/2hour on the loaded call..its realy gotten crazy..
Not the way I like to operate but what goes around comes around :D

I too was out of service due to a safety hold due to that cracked windsheild, I had to contact driver relations to get them to send a message to the safety department because I was on hold for 45 min and I got disgusted and h/u the phone. Just call D.R. dept...they should get the ball rollin.;) Let em know the longer you sit there, the longer you can't run to canada and they will put you back in service right away!....LOL

There's a new sun
Risin' up angry in the sky
And there's a new voice
Sayin' "we're not afraid to die"
Let the old world make believe
It's blind and deaf and dumb
But nothing can change the shape of things to come

This lyric came to mind after reading these posts.

It matters little if anyone else knows that we are correct in our thinking (usual, reasonable and customary business practices); it only matter that we know our thoughts are correct, because...Nothing can change the shape of things to come.

PS. Without using google can you guess who originally wrote the song "Shape of Things to Come"?
