My husband and I are wondering as O/O's where you can get affordable health insurance. Alot of the companies offer insurance but not for major medical. We are healthy but my husband takes BP medication. I'm sure most O/Os have insurance but we were wondering what insurance companies you use that would be worth calling and getting rates and could take you even with pre-existing conditions. Any info would be appreciated!:)

People up their own minds about whats going on out here with us Contractors. What they have set in stone in their own minds is totaly wrong. I do have a friends that use Blue Cross and Blue shield. Personaly I have the Socialist Health plan from the service & No Its not free I pay for it. I pic from a list Docs and Dentists in the area I live. Dont help when you dont get home. Getting a tooth worked on at home 12 bucks co pay.. However in another state $426.00 now go figure. Im very proud of the co diver I had landed a job $1250.00 a week in CA with Full benefits and they needed the Health care realy bad & by Golly they got it!!!! Good Enough!!! Mission Accomplished!!!! That is a good question as I had a Co Driver that needed Health Ins. But Being a contract Driver and vice an Employee That person couldnt get it and what was on the plate couldnt afford.
So getting that person qualified as far as they could they were able to to use it on their resume and get a local job with full benefits. Mission Accomplished. If you cant get the Health Benefits at the company your at then by all means obtain all the creditentals you can & move on.
No one can blame you for that. Somtimes The employees make up their own minds about whats going on out here with us Contractors. What they have set in stone in their own minds is totaly wrong. Dying to know why you would call that the "Socialist Health Plan".

You pic your Doc and Dentist from a List thats Made up by the Govt. Mando. They tell you. Going to another state you pay full price. Unless you check in to a base.
I stand corrected more Dictatorship then anything. Happy Now.

We called Blue Cross directly and bypassed the middleman (agent). It saved us $$$ but my wife's insurance alone is $540 a month. Mine is much higher but I am a cancer survivor. Good luck.

Right now we live in Florida. We are thinking of using our son's address in Pa. for per diem (pay him a little rent every month when we visit) and staying in the truck to save a bunch of cash. We can get insurance through the company, just not major-medical. We would be covered for Dr. appoint., perscriptions, etc. but pray nothing major comes up. B/C B/S. gave us a quote of $203.00 a month for both of us but it seemed like we would be out of pocket for quite a bit and no guarantees they would accept us or the rate could be higher. We just wondered what everyone else is using for insurance or are most expediters running without it. Thanks!
