got the call last nite. testing done he starts at great lakes oct 1. this is ironic because he was living with us, going to school part time and working pt at walgrens. he got to calif and moved in with his dad and started to go to jc pt and yes work at walgrens pt. so now the loop is complete.

we had been after him to join since sr yr in hs. it finally took a road trip to clear his mind and make the decision. never the less we are thrilled. he is looking at a couple of the electronics specialties. he is entering as an E4.

interestingg take on his enlistment from the manager at his store in cotatai ca. he called us to ask what to do. the recruiter called tuesday to get him into the office wed for testing and ppwk. he tried to find someone to cover his shift but no luck. we urged him to call in and tell the mgr that hew was not coming in due to enlistment procedures. she told him...."this will affect your future with the company". he said he would finish his schedule which ends saturday. so today he got a call, not from not the manager but an assistant telling him he was getting a 3 day suspension. can you beat that? this little manager wannabe puts keeping the schedule ahead of national service. strong mail to walgrens will go out when i can get to the url(nott from here. tried)
prescriptions will be moved very soon

My #2 Son is in the Navy, he likes it, trying to talk him in staying in there. I thought I was going to meet up with ya. I'm in Haw River, but just got a load. I know your recruiter (OVM) talks highly of you.

Congratulations to your son and you! Our son signed up for the Navy while still in high school. The difference in him versus his other high school buddies is like night and day. He is in his fith year as a EOD diver.
We are very proud of him and all of our men and women in the Military.

Your son's service will be much appreciated . I hope he takes advantage of further traing benefits available to him .
As for Walgreen's I personally moved my prescriptions from there over a year ago when they started using a supplier in India that was recently approved by the FDA . (We have FDA inspectors in India ?? ) This Walgreen's link may be helpful . http://www.walgreens.com/marketing/contactus/forms.jsp

E-4 outta the gate? I smell a mortgage broker....er, used car salesman.....er, recruiter.

That's a supervisory role, Jack....a Petty Officer.

I wish nothing but the best for your kid, Jack, but I find that claim suspect. He have that in writing?

Please don't take the above negatively. I am very happy your boy is taking the oath. There is no more noble calling than to serve one's fellow man, in defense of our nation and Her Constitution. Please pass along our welcome to 'the club', and we're proud he's serving.

Best of luck to your son! I'm sure he will do great and be very happy with his decision. :)

I used to be an Air Force wife when my ex was in the service. I kind of miss it.

nothing neg taken. appreciate the info. well gracie, who did more talking to carl than i did, but, he is going to school for a year and a half and coming out a petty officer. clean living and clean family life. if you were to look at him you might see petty officer material.

crazynuff, thanks for that link. sent the strongly worded e-mail son got a ticket for headlight out and the recruiter is going to court with him to make sure noth.ing goes on his driving record. headlight violation. officer must have seen the wisc plates.

Not only labor laws but there is something called the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act. In a nut shell it means you can't punish someone for missing work due to military obligations. And before you ask it doesn't matter if he is on active duty or not. He could still sue.

Sue? He wasn't even in the navy yet....
In fact he only gave the store 1 days notice...the recruiter was wrong to ask the lad to welch on his responsibility to his job that he had a commitment to....
