65/35 is generally a good percentage. What type of truck; cargo van, straight or T/T? Do you have a written contract? any other expenses to the owner besides fuel and tolls?

TSTATE is frieght company that truck owner has leased the truck to, my co-driver is talking to everyone (not trucker) about what he should make he is changing his mind everyday not fair to me or truck owner one day he is going next he will let me know we leave on the 29th, he thinks he should get 80%

80% is beyond unreasonable. 60% is received by the majority so 65% is a good split. A team in a "D" truck should gross $100K to the truck. or $65K to you and co-driver. IF you can agree on a work schedule, home time, etc. Talk to owner about the past performance of that truck and past earnings. He should be willing to let you see some of the earning statements the last drivers produced. It doesn't sound like you're off to a good start with your co-driver.

You might want to analyse your expected fuel costs, expected miles you'll drive, MPG and use $4.00 per gallon. That money will come off the top of the $65,000 guesstimate I threw out to you.

I am a bit concerned about your situation so I will have to chime in here.
I am also in the process of looking at this opportunity and I have seen many offers for 60/40 so a 65/35 w/ fsc sure sounds good.
That seems like the least of your concerns. Teaming up with a co-driver is a close second to getting married. You must be dead on in sync with each other or have great communication to be able to come to agreements under stress. Will this co-driver question every load offer? Question every route you take? Have you ever noticed, it is very rare that roommates get along well, even when they have their own rooms? Imagine sharing a closet.

I have experienced the co-driver situation, but it was not until I teamed up with my wife that a good thing became great. We see eye to eye on 90%, discuss 8% and argue out the remaining 2%.

It may be difficult to find the perfect co-driver; however, it is a crucial 1st decision . Best of luck!

Is that right? They can only expect to gross $100,000 as a team??? So say they were paying 50cpm for fuel (is that too high?).. and say all miles averaged out to $1.30/mile including all extras; $100,000/$1.30=76,923miles/yr x 50cpm for fuel = $38,460 for fuel; So $100,000*65%/2=$32,500 each, less $19,230ea for fuel = $13,270 net income each, (less meals, tolls, and whatever else they have to pay on their own)???
No wonder expediters are going hungry!

pjjjjj; Notice that my key word was "should". We dont know the terms of the Tri-State lease, we don't know the MPG of the owners truck, we don't know how often this team will be on the road, their work ethic nor their compatability as a team. We don't know the age of the truck nor the down time it might experience for repairs. I would not presume rangell218's income nor operating expenses. That's an analysis he should undertake based on known figures.

A team in a D truck could earn the truck in excess of $200,000; a team in a D truck should earn the truck $100,000
