Oil Pressure Trouble

I have the same engine with 649,900 miles. I change the oil & filters every 10,000 miles and add a gallon of Lucas.

Like your engine the factory oil pressure gauge it faulty! Had the oil pressure switch replaced and it only worked for a short while after that. Seems to be an issue. Do yourself a favor and have a mechanical gauge installed as slo mentioned.

Slo, thanks for the idea to run with the manual gauge.
With having the Gulf Coast, I went over 100,000 without doing a total oil change. I have been changing the by-pass filters every 15,000 miles. Before I started having trouble, I was changing the spin-on filter at 30,000 miles. For the past year that has changed to 7-8,000 miles, as soon as the pressure drops. September 1, I did a complete oil change and shut off Gulf Coast system . The oil pressure dropped in 4,000 miles. Almost at 4,000 again, so I'll make sure and get Gulf Coast back in line.
I tried to attach a spread sheet that shows a history of my adventures, but it's too big. Anyone who wants a copy send me your email address.

Call me old-fashined, but regardless of how ell a filter system may work, I would never leave oil in a truck engine over the recommended oil change interval. An oil change is alot cheaper than an engine, what is really gained by leaving oil in an engine that long to begin with?My freind used to use that Amsoil setup in his truck, and had nothing but problems with his engine, while mine was fine doing it the old way. WE bought the same identical trucks the same day from the same dealer.Go figure.
