Went into the men's room at the Flying J in Amarillo to wash my hands and such before eating, and straight out of a scene from Seinfeld, this jerk comes out of a stall, and I hear the toilet flush. He passes me at the sink and walks out. I thought, "He'd better not be going to the buffet."
I get done and come out, and there's this filthy piece of trash at the salad bar, touching the utensils and the plates. I summoned the manager, and I told her what I had just personally witnessed. She was in a hard spot, having one customer who just witnessed this and is standing there, waiting for her to do something, and having another customer, even if he is the scum of the earth, that she wants to tell to go wash but really...can't.
So she had her staff change out the entire salad bar...the food, the utensils, everything.
Then, this subhuman finishes his salad and goes over to the main food bar and helps himself there. I flagged down a waitress, and they did the same to the entire food bar--well, the utensils, but not the food, even though I told them he only had the chicken and the beef.
Should it be a comfort that they did this, or should I just figure, "Well, it probably happens a dozen times a day without my knowledge, anyway; what's one more guy's germs?"
I'm in favor of repealing 90% of the laws in this country immediately. But I think I'd add one: anyone eating at a buffet must wash immediately before touching anything, in a sink visible to everyone. Or something like that. It'd be cheaper than having employees dishing up all the food.
