Oh Laredo. How I hate you

I love the place, nice hotel I believe the Comfort or Quality Inn right on the main drag. They will take you anywhere in town for free. Restaurant is OK but since they will take you anywhere the town has a great selection of nice restaurants. Free Fax, copies, internet hook up, PU a travel magazine at the Rest Area the room is right at $30.00 a night plus tax.

Room includes washer dryer, large clean rooms. Hard to park but its possible unlike T-Hawks hotel you can get in but getting out ouch. Flying J is real nice and there are some outskirt truck stops with great Mexican food and picnic tables. There are also Mini Vans to Mexico so you can be safe if your nervious but the guys I know who do go love it, Dentist Cleanings for $45.00, perscriptions very inexpensive.

More to offer than lets say Lodi, OH.

Wow - I've never stayed at a motel with a washer & dryer in the room! That beats the Family Garden's free Happy Hour at the pool cabana, lol.:7

Since I got back in a truck almost 4 months ago, I've been to Laredo 6 times. The longest I sat was 2 days, the shortest was 20 minutes. I'll take Laredo in Jan. - Feb. over The Great Lakes region anytime (And I live in MI.) :p

With all of the ice storms that are happening, I'll go to Laredo in a heart beat. Live in Michigan though so kinda sick of ice storms.

Hey all, the wife and i are down here too. From what my wife was saying, she really made the rounds after doing laundry and did a bit of socializing. I on the other hand stayed up for tooooo long and ended up sleeping for 12 hrs. HIGHLY UNUSUAL FOR ME!
I always jump at the chance to come down here!! Matter of fact, this was even a reduced rate load coming down, but I'm a Florida boy and hate anything below 65 degrees. lmao
We don't usually sit around too long, but then again it's the weekend.

anyone still awake? its 4am!

Well, I got out of Laredo Thursday night and spent Friday dealing with 80 degree weather at the Flying J in Edinburgh.

Be careful what you wish for. I'm sitting in Saginaw, MI looking at the ice and snow all over the Flying J parking lot.

But I was glad to be driving this weekend. I took the southern route from Edinburgh to Houston to Louisiana up I-59 to I-65 in Birmingham. Then straight up I-65. No real rain until Nashville. Temps were in the 70's until I got to Nashville. Totally missed the Dallas ice storm. I live between Dallas and Ft. Worth and told my family I would see them when they could get me better weather.

Got the camping machine out a couple weeks ago, and am typing from Corpus Christi. Texas has some down home Mexican chow, and really good shrimp where i'm at. You could enjoy it more if'n you'd get away from them truck stops too!! Temps going to drop here to about 40F Mon 15 Jan for a couple days. Hope you don't get in Laredo.

There is a Flying J on Monte Cristo Road off US-281 in Edinburgh. Also a crappy T/A and a Loves further up the road. Edingurgh is only about 8 miles from McAllen.

It's much warmer in the McAllen/Brownsville area. Brownsville is the most southern part of the US.

Tonight I filled up at the Flying J and counted 16 cargo vans sitting in the parking lot, the majority of them were Panther. I'm sure there was a few sitting on the other side of the interstate at the Pilot also.

I don't think Laredo is good place to be right now if your driving a cargo van, especially for panther.
