What a lousy way to start the year. A truck just backed into us at the Pilot in Syracuse. Took out the left head light and did damage to the fiberglass. Right now the truck is not able to be driven at night. Head light works but is flopping around

Have to see if we can get a temp repair so we can keep working. THIS SUCKS!!

Hopefully it isn't too bad and you can do a temporary quick fix. Do you think it was someone leaving during their 34 hour restart?

It looks like the top bracket for the headlight is broken, hard to tell in the dark.

Not leaving, he was just pulling in. We were inside so we missed the fun. At least the guy did not try to run off and the two guys that saw it stuck around to talk the the cops.

Strange. ONE of the guys knew us. We picked up a load of weapons as his reserve unit last year. He remembered us. He handling the paper work. Weird, eh?

I think Exp Services has a rule that they must leave the marker lights on when parked.
If you have to turn down work, that income(net) should be part of your insurance claim.
Some dealerships/bodyshops have loaner hoods. They can switch out the hood in about an hour. You leave your hood there for a week or two for repairs/ paint.

Another advantage to Pilots: small parking lots.

Bright side, next week will probably be better.

Man that sucks. To your other point, I personally think they should call them not quite so dumb phones. If they were truly smart they'd automatically upload your photos and do everything else you need them to do automatically. :D

I HATE this new phone! My old one was giving out and to replace it would have cost me $200 out of pocket. The Iphone was the "free phone" when I renewed. Can't wait for this two years to be up and I can get rid of this thing. I want my old do nothing phone back.

You'll get used to it give it some time. Either that or shoot it.

I have no real choice but to give it some time. Shooting DOES sound like a WONDERFUL idea! It's BIG and uncomfortable to hold and it just does WAY too much stuff, stuff that I just don't need. OH WELL, maybe while the truck is in the shop I will hit the lottery and be able to get rid of ALL my junk, like my computers.

OH to have enough money to "live off the land".

I know a guy that went to Alaska to live off the land.
He's working at Sam's Club and maybe dumpster diving.
Didn't work the way he thought.

Of course he doesn't have your skills or knowledge.

Sorry to see this happened. I assume there was no parking up front so you could stay away from the big trucks.
Any chance some duck tape and muffler strapping could tighten it up for a few days until ya shut down again and get it in for repairs? A few self tapping screws along with the strap just may work.Since ya stated the brackets where busted anyways I would not worry about putting a few holes inside the hood.
My crash and dent looked pretty much the same and headlight bucket alone with the mirror was broke also including the mirror bracket on fender pulled out. I was lucky that my headlight was still tight in the bucket tho.
That Freightliner dealer over by or off Wyoming in Dearborn did me a really good job, both under hood and outside..Paint job looked every bit as good as the factory paint. I was impressed with both the fiberglass repair and paint. I think I had 3 days start to finnish to get truck back once they stared on it.

Heading into a shop this morning to see if there is anything that can be done. We had not planned any time off until the latter part of March, this sure killed that business plan. Bad time to happen, Jan is normally a very busy month for us.

this rite here is exactly why we never park out back at a truck stop. if we cant park out front then we move on.

There is no parking out front here. There is not all that much in the back. I also know many drivers who have been asked to move to the back at truck stops when they parked out front.

Yep if its your day in the barrel,,it your day in the barrel..It would have happened no matter what I guess.. I never (or try to never) park out back,,even if I gotta jump a curb somewhere or take up a bobtail spot.
Most of those 53fts are ruthless, glad this guy stuck around for you.
Hope ya dont have to shut her down out on the road but get a chance for repairs at least close to home. If ya need anything ya have my number..

Thanks but I think we will be ok. Heading over to a shop in a bit to see if we can temp repair till our planned time off. If not, heading home. Not going to sit in a motel with those added expenses while this is fixed.
