That's because the definition of that word is "a trashy person", provided you can find a giant Webster's Unabridged from the 50's. That was the first definition listed and is true regardless of appearance now just as it was then.

I suspect those that where offended also belong to the party that has a donkey as their mascot. They where just looking for a reason to be "offended" I think there is a professional class of them now.
