Odometer spazzing out

I have an International 4300. Truck hadn't been driven for about 10 days while we were at home.

Started driving tonight and the odometer wasn't changing. Everything else is working properly. Just not the odometer and the trip counter.

About every five minutes though, the miles will reset and add in the miles. So it might read five miles and not change and then five minutes later will change to ten miles.

Anyone heard of this before?

Speed sensor most likely.or it could be the circuit board for the electronic dash. Speed sensor would be the cheapest. Start there.

After watching it some more, i saw a pattern develop. It adds miles in 1.6 mile increments. So if i reset the trip odometer to zero, it will stay zero and then go to 1.6 stay there until 3.2 then 4.8 and on and on.

We brought it to a shop we trust in Orlando and they hooked up to the laptop. There were no codes showing. Their guess is that it is probably the cluster.

Since there are no other issues at this time we are going to wait and see what happens before we start throwing money around on parts that may or may not fix it.

Carefully pull the plastic cover off the gauge cluster, remove the gauge cluster, check and clean the plug and pigtail connectors with silicone sprayed on a rag, plug it back in and reinstall.
Its all plastic so be careful not to break anything and don't drop the cluster its an expensive part.
