Yeah I forgot you're at the top of the food chain almost.....62 after Johns cut

No, far from the top. Or maybe top of our tiny little chain we have. But there's a ton of difference between every company's business model. I didn't say I COULDN'T have bid 92.9 CPM to get that load. But I care as much about the rate degradation that has happened in the past 10 months as the next guy. In the long run, it does not help the industry if I bid "what I need" as opposed to "what I think the load can go for".
Has that every backfired on me? Yes, only about 6-25 times a day. That's all. We just crossed the "100 line" of brokers we have and do work with. Most of them were great to work with and greatly appreciated that a super small carrier can, and does, perform (per truck) as well or better than the "big dogs". We, in our little world here, have a lot at stake. We MUST perform.
Can we do this for a little less per mile? Of course we can. But we avoid doing so as much as humanly possible.
But, just like many of you, I am supporting a family of 4, a dog and 2 cats with this.

So can I afford to run a cheap load? In the long run, no. Once in a great while, yes.

You're on the top of the state and I'm on the bottom. Columbia, SC to Pensacola, FL. Now at Mickey D's across from the TA in Grand Bay. 122 miles from Nawlins and 1122 from home

It’s winter in the Dakotas,

And the gentle breezes blow,

Seventy miles an hour

At twenty-nine below.

Oh, how I love the Dakotas,

When the snow's up to your butt,

You take a breath of winter air

And your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful

So I guess I'll hang around.

I could never leave the Dakotas

'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!!
