The actual sad thing is many are equating this to the hard fight for the passage of the civil rights bill and most of the great society bills of the mid 60's which passed by great margins, not a 7 vote margin.
It makes you wonder what planet most of the supporters are from when they think that a 219-212 margin is a great victory.
The other sad thing is they call this historical, yea maybe in the sense it is going to screw us in the long run, but outside of ignoring the people and maybe causing a possible 100 seat loss for the dems in the fall, it is historical because too many want something for nothing.
Well it's now going to be in the courts, there won't be enough votes to stop it so here comes immigration.

I gotta give it up to Boehnner and his call for a Roll Call vote. Nice try, but it wasn't gonna happen. Pelosi even wanted this to be a "deem and pass" so that it could be passed without anyone having to actually vote for it, thereby giving everyone the chance to say they didn't vote for it, even though they did. She and the Dems want to protect those who voted YES, because they know they're screwed come the next election. If Boehnner had his way with the Roll Call vote, the Republicans would have had a picture-perfect, campaign-ready, talking-head shot of each and every Democrat saying "NO". But alas, it was not to be.

let's see: We've passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman doesn't understand it, passed by a congress that hasn't read it, to be signed by a president who also hasn't read it and smokes, to be administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, to be overseen by an obese surgeon general & financed by a country that's broke. What could possibly go wrong?
All 219 of them don't drop dead this week?

If it was a straight Pay as you go situation, then it wouldn't be so bad but ...
this is the senate version of the bill, the only way they could figure out how to pass it was to use the version, push very hard to get it passed and then add a fix bill to be debated and passed in the senate. This as it stands and as it will be signed is exactly what the senate sent to the house - nothing has changed.
Then you have the taxes, $569.2 billion in new taxes - heres just a few;
$52 billion on companies that do not provide what the government deems "acceptable" or "affordable" insurance for workers.
$60.1 billion on health insurers.
$27 billion on drug manufacturers and importers (HINT no more drugs from Canada and no more 90 days for $10).
$20 billion on makers and importers of medical devices
$2.7 billion on the tanning industry
And a number of new taxes we all have to pay because these companies don't pay for the taxes, they pass them onto the consumer or the insurer.
Overall this will cause $2.5 trillion in new entitlement spending because of the increasing of the medicaid roles and right now there is an issue of solvency within the social security trust fund - looks like I won't be getting mine.
But the kicker is outside of all this there will be more regulations and more 'enforcement'.
Now the Nebraska kickback and the other perks that were given to single states in the senate bull are still there and the abortion issue, regardless what executive order is signed, will be still paid for through different hidden channels as it was but now expended.
It is a bad politically compromised bill that really screws all of us and I hope that it loses in the courts because even if the republicans gain the seats in the house and senate, they may not have a chance to repeal this until 2013 which by the way is a year before it comes on line.
