Obama's War On The Catholic Church

Man.......the Republican party is in trouble. When you got this guy gaining momentum, seriously? If the Catholic Church want's to have this issue taken seriously, they really should tell Santorum to sit down and shut up, because he aint helpin' their cause.

Also, I think he needs to brush up on his French Revolution history and the use of the guillotine. Douche!

Rick Santorum warned that President Obama's attacks on faith could lead to a situation similar to the French Revolution.

Speaking at a campaign event in Texas on Wednesday night, the former Pennsylvania said that Obama was "crushing" faith in America.

"They are taking faith and crushing it. Why? Why? When you marginalize faith in America, when you remove the pillar of God given rights then what’s left?" Santorum said according to radio station WLS.

"The French Revolution," Santorum continued. "What’s left is a government that gives you rights. What’s left are no unalienable rights. What’s left is a government that will tell you who you are, what you’ll do and when you’ll do it. What’s left in France became the guillotine. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are a long way from that, but if we do follow the path of President Obama and his overt hostility to faith in America, then we are headed down that road."

Santorum's comments come a few days after he dominated three GOP presidential contests in Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri. Recently, Santorum has focused his attacks on Obama's decision to require certain religious organizations connected to the government to cover birth control in health insurance plans and Democrats' support of a recent appeals court decision in California overturning a ban on same-sex marriage.

Oh, I guess because that's how those on the Right have chosen to frame this as a controversy ....

Everyone should be outraged that the government is requiring an employer to provide health care, which they should not be doing!

..... outraged along with many other things ..... like say, extra-judicial assassinations of American citizens without any due process of law for starters ..... but that's a another conversation ....

Also, IF a particular employer CHOOSES to provide heath care it is their right to decide what and for whom to provide it for.

True to a point ...... (the point potentially being when it is unlawfully discriminatory in some manner or another)

After all, it is a gift, not a mandate.

If an employer chooses to provide heath care at no "cost" to an employee .... it is likely a form of compensation ..... in exchange for services rendered ......

I guess under certain circumstances it could be considered a form of compensation. What exactly does 'fringe benefit' mean? If I ran a company and CHOOSE to provide health care I could see how I could word it to imply a gift.

I can tell you one thing, IF I owned a company and was 'mandated' by the government to provide it, I would refuse to do so.

To the owners non-employee friends ?

To anyone ? (other than employees ?)

Noun: An extra benefit supplementing an employee's salary.​

IOW, it's compensation:

Compensation - com·pen·sa·tion​

Noun: 2. Something, such as money, given or received as payment or reparation, as for a service or loss.​

What has everything to do with it, is the motivation for doing so and the facts surrounding the act and the circumstances it occurs in .....

Yep and I have already cancelled my insurance and have told my useless congressman that I will NEVER buy the mandated insurance and refuse to pay the fine. I put that in writing, signed it, and mailed it to him. His answer? A 'pep talk' on how wonderful Obama care is.

He knows who I am. We have talked on many occasions. I will likely see him on March 24th, our Ducks Unlimited dinner. I will not get into it there. That night I am representing Ducks Unlimited and will act properly for that event.
