2001... fuel prices started climbing.
What does one have to do with the other? I believe OPEC made a deal with Bush Sr to keep prices low for 10 years if we stop Saddam. Remember, Bush told Saddam to go ahead with the attack. All of a sudden, we're at war. Something changed Bush's mind; and I think it was an OPEC deal. If this were the case, Bush lied to Saudi that we weren't mercenaries. I believe we were every bit.
But I remember a couple things about high fuel prices... 1) Bush was in office when prices hit $5+/-. 2) The Democrats controlled Congress when prices hit $5+/-. 3) The Republicans did NOTHING to help the situation when they were in power in the years prior.
Plenty of blame for all.
