Glad Canadians have our backs. Why you would send any troops at all is beyond me.

Do you support keeping Canadian troops in Afghanistan past 2011?

Yes. There's still a lot of work to do. 30.71%

No. We've done enough already and it's time to get out. 53.73%

I'd just like to see a debate about the extension. 15.56%

Oh......and then you have comments from our friends like this from the comments section:

We had no right being there in the first place and by association Canadians will forever be hated targets of the Afgan people for the haeinous atrocities committed by the blood thirsty Americans who recently have also been reported and acknowleded as shooting Afgan civilions for SPORT and keep parts of their bodies as trophies. Such crimes are unparalled in history.

Thanks for the support....

Canada's role in the Afghanistan War

Canada did not have a significant role in the first few months of the invasion of Afghanistan that began on October 7, 2001, and the first contingents of regular Canadian troops arrived in Afghanistan only in January–February 2002. Canada took on a larger role starting in 2006 after the Canadian troops were redeployed to Kandahar province. Roughly 2,500-2,830 Canadian Forces (CF) personnel are currently deployed in Afghanistan as part of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

Some Americans are wondering why we continue a war we appear to be losing . You spout of like the majority of Americans are in favor of the war . That's far from true .

Witness...now here is a site that really loves the US

Canada to extend participation in Afghan War through 2014

some out takes...

Because of the popular opposition to the CAF waging war on behalf of Afghanistan’s corrupt, repressive US-imposed government,

a war motivated by the US’s drive to establish a strategic beachhead in Central Asia, a region rich in oil, natural gas and mineral resources that borders three key US rivals, Russia, Iran, and China.

And then this...
It has been noted on both sides of the border that the US did little if anything to support Canada’s recent failed bid for a two-year seat on the United Nations Security Council.

------------------------------------------------------------

More than 150 Canadian soldiers have been killed and more than 1,500 have been wounded since Canada first sent troops to support the U.S.-led invasion after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Canada has suffered the highest per capita casualty rate of any coalition member.

Sorry guys this is really going to p*ss you all off.

His job is not to make appearances to pay respect to anyone on any given day but to show the respect by not crapping on people who serve (in all forms) every day.

I think he has done that every day so far.

He has yet really made a move to crap on the armed forces, he paid respect to the soldiers who are standing guard in a war zone (we are still at war with North Korea) and he has not cut the budget to the military that affect the people directly, did not tell the VA hospital not to serve those who are suffering and hasn't cut the pensions of those who retired.

SO reexamine Carter for a minute and try hard to remember that this Naval officer brought up to the brink of the abyss in the military and caused us to have the lowest recruitment enrollment in our history.

SO Let's look at Bush who allowed a soldier who deserted to the enemy during a war to return to his home in Japan, when he should have been tried and executed.

These two other presidents mentioned served, which makes me think that there should not be any requirement for one who serves to be in charge of the military but the opposite - the actions of many presidents who actually did serve prove that point.

I cannot believe veterans of the US Armed Forces actually needs Obama's luv on Veterans Day. Good grief. Buncha liberal crybabies.

I hope I was not lumped into that group, I was trying to get some prospective on his attendance of those holidays.

If he was out of the country on all four occasions then it would be fair to wonder why. If on the other hand he was at a few and missed a few, I wouldn't think anything of it.

Speaking only for myself I don't need or want a Presidents love, just the respect for the job that should be afforded to any and all that honorably severed in the Military. Just as we should respect the office of the President.

Of course you are lumped into that group, if you are a veteran. It was a joke, so the only way for it to work is to include all veterans within it. I had hoped that the obvious incongruity of the "liberal crybabies" with that of the traditional conservative nature of most military veterans would have made the joke plain enough. After all, even Layout got it. :D

No, he wasn't out of the country on all four occasions. This past Memorial Day he didn't go to Arlington National Cemetery to lay the wreath, and some people just lost their minds over it, saying he was showing gross disrespect to those veterans who gave their life in service to this country. Those same people completely dismissed the fact that Bush, Bush and Reagan all did the same thing at times in their presidency, as well as the fact that Obama went to the Lincoln National Cemetery and laid a wreath there, instead of Arlington. Apparently these staunch veterans are only aware of a single National Cemetery, and are completely unaware of the other 145 National Cemeteries that contain our honored war dead.

Speaking only for myself I don't need or want a Presidents love, just the respect for the job that should be afforded to any and all that honorably severed in the Military. Just as we should respect the office of the President.
I agree completely.

My mocking use of the word luv, rather than love, should have also been a clue as to the nature of the joke.

I like it. :)
