Obama approval hits 60 percent

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama's approval rating has hit its highest point in two years — 60 percent — and more than half of Americans now say he deserves to be re-elected, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll taken after U.S. forces killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

In worrisome signs for Republicans, the president's standing improved not just on foreign policy but also on the economy, and independent Americans — a key voting bloc in the November 2012 presidential election — caused the overall uptick in support by sliding back to Obama after fleeing for much of the past two years.

Comfortable majorities of the public now call Obama a strong leader who will keep America safe. Nearly three-fourths — 73 percent — also now say they are confident that Obama can effectively handle terrorist threats. And he improved his standing on Afghanistan, Iraq and the United States' relationships with other countries.

Despite a sluggish recovery from the Great Recession, 52 percent of Americans now approve of Obama's stewardship of the economy, giving him his best rating on that issue since the early days of his presidency; 52 percent also now like how he's handling the nation's stubbornly high 9 percent unemployment

If you CLICK HERE, you will see that the AP poll that the story quotes is the only one that even comes near the 60 mark. They're trying to give him a jump of 21 which is unheard of from any of the other news outlets....even the lefties.

I have seen everything from a 2 pt bounce to 60% approval of how barry handled the osama killing..that doesn't say he now has a 60% approval rating as the president...and the only thing that is going to matter come 2012, is the economy , gas prices and unemployment....his pandering to the latinos now is just that, pandering....

And, speaking of the economy, let's not forget that the 9% "official" unemployment rate is substantially lower than the effective unemployment rate, which is, last I heard, something like 16%, and had been as high as the low-20s at times. How hard are people going to feel it at election time, is the question.

Nothing New.....

The election of Obawa to the Presidency over 2 1/2 years ago proved how many fools there are in this country.

"Democracy is the theory that common people know what they want."

"People deserve the government they get. And they deserve to get it good and hard."

Well now that Trump showed the U.S and the rest of the world what a JO he really is by that profane speech he made, no wonder Obama's approval is up.

I mean really, what was he thinking?????

No one has stepped up yet and while Herman Cain has strong points, he also has some things i don't agree with, but then no one is 100% and i sm not a single isue voter..BUT..!* months out....the campaigning gets longer and longer with each election cycle...i really don't think barry is helping himself by starting to campaign this early and i am ok with no one from the right being "the one" yet....maybe in another 6 months, but 24-18 months out is nuts...
