Now that Santorum is gone, what to do with Ron Paul?

The Mainstream Media's Nightmare: Romney vs. What's His Name Gary North

April 11, 2012

From the day Ron Paul declared he was running, the mainstream media have had a problem: how to keep Paul's message from getting a hearing.

With a bunch of conservatives in the race, the media could safely focus on the conservative-of-the-month. But now Santorum has quit. It's down to three: Romney, Gingrich, and Paul.

How will the media spin this? How will they make it a race between Romney and Gingrich, with what's his name not mentioned?

Paul has money to spend. He will run TV ads. Here's one aimed at Texans.

If Gingrich is in second place in the primaries, that benefits the mainstream media. They can try to make it a two-horse race. But that tactic will be obvious. It will not work. The Web will not let them get away with anything like this.

If Paul beats Gingrich, the media will keep saying he should pull out of the race. Why should he? He is building his mailing list, primary by primary.

The media will hammer on this: Ron Paul is eccentric who cannot win. This raises a question: How come his campaign has money? How can he afford ton run those ads? How does an eccentric raise so much money?

With Gingrich still in the race, how can the networks not cover the race? Gingrich is just what the doctor ordered. He is there to give the media someone who must be covered. But if they cover him, they must cover Paul.

Conservatives now have a choice: Gingrich (hold your nose), Romney (the Establishment's candidate), and Paul (small government). The moment of decision has come. They will despair: "Has it come to this?" Yes, it has.

Ron Paul will have his podium from now on. He will keep hammering at the basic themes: too much spending, too much debt, and too much Bernanke.

The hard-core Ron Paul audience will grow. Those already on board will get even more hard core. At last, their views are being aired. At last, a national political representative is telling it like it is, has been, and is likely to be until the government goes belly-up.

This is what we have not seen in American history: a man with a consistent message of small government making his case in front of millions of voters. Not since Grover Cleveland in 1892 has anyone running for President been this hard core. But Grover Cleveland did not have YouTube.

Ron Paul is still in the race. He has not run out of money. The Establishment's nightmare has come true. He is no longer the unmentioned candidate.

If Romney loses in November, two words will haunt the Establishment: Rand Paul.

Two more words ought to: mailing lists. But the Establishment still has not figured out what email and Facebook can do . . . cheap.

Three more words ought to haunt them: grass roots mobilization.

And three more: "We'll be back!"

In December of 2007, David Rockefeller had not heard of Ron Paul. Now he has. So have millions of others. We have seen the education of David Rockefeller.

If Rand starts acting like his father, he will be looking for a new line of employment. Or go back to doctoring. Ron Paul has hoodwinked a Congressional district in Texas for two decades. His libertarian witch's brew hasn't sold anywhere else.

The United States political structure has evolved into a two-party system. That's reality. It will remain a two-party system. Pick a team and strive to make improvements.

At this point both Paul and Gingrich are done. Paul could get some traction as a independent but won't come close to the cash or votes the others have to compete. Basically be a spoiler and nothing more.

Promises, promises ....

I'd say that rates at about the level of "pants on fire" ....

Oh we have ....

One of the improvements we are making is educating the citizenry about the history of neo-conservatism which many - including those that are adherents - are largely ignorant of ... and how this putrid, Godless ideology grew out a rag-tag collection of socialists, Trotskyites, Shachtmanites, and other assorted flavors of commie ....

This has been true from the beginning. That Ron Paul would dangle the prospect of a 3rd party run, thereby throwing the election to Barack Obama is unpardonable.

Obama or Romney?

Do i want to hit my thumb or toe with a sledgehammer?

Other parties or movements within parties are needed in order to have some real options in this country. All these bought and paid for fools do is argue how to spend money we borrow from China.

Heheheh .... there's actually a video clip of Davey-boy out there on YouTube doing an interview on this ....

The interviewer asks him about Ron Paul and being clueless Davey sez he doesn't know who that is ... then the interviewer explains that Dr. Paul wants to end the Fed ...

The resultant look on Dave's face is priceless (like he just laid a log in his drawers) as he opines something along the lines of "Oh .... I don't think that would be a good idea ...."

Yeah .... I'll bet you don't Dave ....

Read it .... and I guess mebbe weep, depending ones views of things:

Why Ron Paul also matters more than Romney, Santorum and Obama

TAMPA, April 10, 2012 — Ron Paul matters much more than Newt Gingrich in this year’s Republican nomination race, according to The Washington Post. Both men trail frontrunners Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum by a wide margin in terms of primary victories.

As usual, The Washington Post was silent on the possibility that Paul may have far more delegates may have far more delegates than most media outlets are reporting.

The thrust of The Washington Post story is that Paul has much more leverage due to his growing following and potential for a third party run. Thus, he has already influenced the Republican Party, including scrutiny of the Federal Reserve, more attention to the debt crisis and even some grudging concessions on foreign policy.

Just a few years back, none of this was part of the Republican platform.

However, the Post article misses the most important point. Ron Paul doesn’t just matter more than Newt Gingrich. He also matters more than Romney, Santorum or even President Obama. Ron Paul has already had a greater impact on America than any U.S. President in generations.

The Republicans have made unseating Obama a sacred quest in this year’s election. To listen to their rhetoric, you would think that Fidel Castro had been inaugurated in January 2009. Obama’s supporters operate under a similar delusion, although they feel differently about it.

It is apparent that both conservatives and progressives have completely lost touch with reality. Nothing has changed since Obama replaced George W. Bush. Nothing would change if Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum replaced Obama, either.

Americans elected Obama in 2008 to not be George W. Bush. Bush was reviled by voters for what they believed was an unnecessary war in Iraq, for spying on American citizens, for being too cozy with Wall Street, and for assuming executive powers not delegated to him by the Congress. Obama promised to change all of that.

Four years later, Obama has started at least three new wars while expanding the boondoggle in Afghanistan. He has continued spying on Americans and sought to expand this authority in the courts. He has filled his cabinet with Wall Street insiders and has bested George W. Bush on expanding executive powers.

Obama actually claims the right to arrest, to indefinitely detain and even to assassinate American citizens that he deems dangerous - all without due process.

Romney and Santorum both support all of this. Gingrich thinks it’s not enough. Progressives in the media who howled with righteous indignation at Bush’s depredations seem to have fallen asleep now that Obama is in.

Doesn’t anyone remember Keith Olbermann’s tirades about Bush’s dictatorial power grabs? Is there some reason that it is ok when a progressive does the same thing?

However, Obama did lead America down the path to socialism by expanding the government’s role in healthcare and imposing draconian regulations on the financial sector, right? Surely he departs from the “laissez faire” Bush here. Can you say “Medicare Part D” or “Sarbanes-Oxley?”

Nothing changes. Obama is no different than Bush. Neither Romney, Santorum, nor Gingrich would be any different than Obama. They don’t even propose to cut Obama’s spending. The spending “cuts” they propose are actually just reductions in spending increases in future years. In other words, they have no objection to Obama’s spending now. They all admit this, yet their supporters continue in their missionary zeal as if their candidates represent some sort of radical change.

Then there is Ron Paul. He doesn’t just talk about cutting spending. He published his first year budget, cutting $1 trillion dollars. He doesn’t just talk about individual liberty. He wants to end the failed drug war and repeal the Patriot Act. He promises to bring troops home from all over the world and allow young people to opt out of unsustainable entitlement programs. Ron Paul proposes real solutions to real problems, regardless of the political consequences.

Ron Paul is the first presidential candidate in my lifetime to actually use the words “role of government” as if the subject should be debated. He challenges the status quo – the whole, multi-trillion dollar monster in Washington, D.C. that purports to care for 300 million people from cradle to grave and police the entire world. Ron Paul has dared to speak the unspeakable and millions of people all over the world are listening.

That’s why Ron Paul is more important than whoever wins the Republican nomination or the presidency this year. Presidents have come and gone for decades while the federal government has continued to trample our liberties, loot our wealth, and propagate new enemies around the world, regardless of which party has been in power.

Then along came Ron Paul, an overnight sensation thirty-six years in the making. To those who understand what is happening, the presidential election seems almost irrelevant as Paul’s audiences explode into the thousands. Long after history has deemed Bush, Obama and this year’s winner indistinguishable postage stamps on the road to disaster, it will remember the man who planted new seeds during the election of 2012.

As George Washington once said, “Liberty, when it begins to take root, is a plant of rapid growth.”

Yea well...yes we have a the elite controlled 2 party systems, but there are other parties to involve yourself with. i have been a Paul supporter and contributor since his 1st presidental run. I wont even ty to agree with his complete platform and at this point while he won't get the "nod" to run against barry, he will get to influence the platform that Romney will use to run against barry...and if Romney has any backbone he will follow and not back away from it if elected.

The fact is the Paul run will continue to be ignored as it has been and the media will also now sidestep Newt and simply start the warfare on romney as the candiate running against barry..but while alot of paul supporters will vote for barry, what most people are missing is that Paul supporters have enough faith in the USA to believe it and the people can make it through 4 mores years of barry and in that time frame they will continue to create a movement much like the or in step with the Tea Party...they will continue the movement of the Paul Ideals and grow their base and hopefully become large enough to make the difference in 2016 and beyond by either creating a large enough base to force a strong 3rd party or by making the republican party turn in the direction that will lead to the Constitution and Bill of Rights the basis for running the country as the founders set it up.

Can this happen? Well, my belief is that it will only happen with the electroate being more informed and educated and being less willing to be taken care of from the cradle to the grave and living with the thought that the government is their to support or even help them. If that can happen then yes, the likes of a Ron Paul can be elected..if the dems and to a lesser extent the left leaning right continue to bribe the people and they continue to bow down and take it because "We are entitled"...then no, we are on a shorter path to the failure of our government and country....and then "grab your donkey" because all hell is going to break lose as the entitlement crowd will finally not have the gov to hold their hand and the divisions and class warfare the current system and the left have created will end with what we see in the streets all over europe.....

I understand that voting for the lessers of the evils is distasteful for some, and by not doing so you are staying a course that you hope will continue the movement to get to where voting for the lessers isn't the only option. For me, I'll support my canidate until there is no longer anyway for him to get that nod, then while still working to make the changes the Paul supports what and we all as a nation need, ill vote for the lessers as the movement grows..to do anything else will simply speed the destruction and even if getting there faster may not be all that bad, i am pretty certain that if not done over a paced time frame to educate the electorate, most of those fighting to make the changes won't have the stomach to take on the "established" armies of the government and "water the tree of liberty" as it comes....

Many have said that Romney is no differnet then barry and thats bs...where is the rev wright in romneys past? Where is the socialist upbringing in Romneys past, where is the bill ayers in romneys past? Where is romneys ties to the socialist parties in romneys past? Romeny is by no means the best we could have, but he s the best that gives the people a chance to get barry out of office and he is far from the destructive anti constitutionalist that barry is....Thats my take and while i don't agree with alot of Romneys platform, i also don't agree with alot of Pauls, and while Romney is not going to further the Paul isues that concern me, again, he is the lesser of the evils that has the best chance to remove barry and he is less evil then barry...and at this point, thats where I have to go....but i will continue to work for the changes in the electorate to make changes so that my youngest child and grandkids can have better choices when their opportunities come....

Joseph Smith, who might be worse, because mormons are a bit more respectable than Wright. We know Wright is despicable; mormons have the veneer of respectability. They dress nicely, they're polite and make good neighbors who won't borrow your lawnmower and not return it, blast Nickelback at 11pm, or let their dog crap on your lawn. But they're still cultists offering a counterfeit Christ. That potentially makes them worse.

Where is the socialist upbringing in Romneys past,
I don't know about Romney's upbringing, but he seems to have arrived at the socialist station on his own. He may not stand as far to the left as the Obammunist, but he'll be no different. Government will grow, freedom will shrink, the economy will crash. The only difference is that there's a large segment of the populace who will relax now that a Republican is in charge, expecting the stench of socialism to be blown from the White House. Instead, the father of socialized medicine in America, a vile pragmatist who will say anything, switch any position to achieve power, will expand the government even further. At least we know Obama is the enemy of everything reasonable and decent. Romney is a socialist in capitalist clothing. If I'm going to have an enemy, I don't want them to pretend to be my friend.

When was the last republican in office that adhered fully to our constitution? How many more Patriot Acts can we stand?

Romney and the republicans are not the answer to Obama and the democrats. They have worked together with their lobbyists and the Fed to destroy this country.

I will vote for the solution to what is killing our country and our constitution. I will vote for no democrat or republican...

I will however vote for the Constitution Party and their candidates for all offices in my district. I will support the solution even if 95% of the voters vote in favor of the destruction of America...

What is all boils down too is Paul never tried to win, Romney is Obama lite and Obama has already be reelected, even if Romney wins.

There is no valid candidate out there and no write in candidate will win.

We may be seeing the last election under our Constitution. What follow will not be pretty.

I kinda agree on the Paul thing because of not translating a crowd into a voters. After 20 years in Congress and getting 2 out of 600 bills passed is a indication of what would happen in the future if he was to magically become president. One could talk all day long about any subject but if you can't get anything passed, he would be no different than whats there now.

Yeah, and he would have basically the same Congress as we have today. No one to work with.

On a side note, Ted Nugent is backing Romney big time. Romney is also making an appearance/speech at the NRA convention in St. Louis this weekend. THAT should be interesting. He is not well liked there. Got to give Romney credit on that one. Obama NEVER goes where he does not have a pre-selected crowd of "Obama Bums" to adore him. He does not hat the "guts" to go into someone eles's house if they don't like him.

So let's all just keep voting for liberal republicans.... Here's your sign!

I have only a few options here. Vote for Obama, can't do that. Vote for Romney, can't do that. Write in Paul, nope, don't like him. Write in someone I may like, he won't win. No matter what I do, how I vote, Obama is going to win.

Let's see, any ammo on sale? We are going to need a lot of it soon.

May come down to that sadly as there is no viable alternative. What very small alternatives are out there is basically a vote for Obama. No other way to look at what the results would come to.
A vote for Gary Johnson for example would mean what?

I sure am glad that our founding fathers had the guts to put their lives and fortunes on the line to do what is right. Because the majority of Americans today are too afraid of what might happen to do the right thing.

No matter the last name of the King, he still rules you! Yet 95% of us still vote for the party they want to rule their lives, instead of a party that wants you to live your life...

God save America (from her voters)!!!

The time to put our lives on the line comes AFTER this election, when which ever of the two idiots running wins, and cancels out the Constitution. King Putz the 1st will be 'recrowned' no matter what I do.

As I said, I am writing in a name, no more settling for me. I am done.
