ya gotta walk softly around Turtle.
It may seem that way at times, but the thing is, you really don't. You have to be a spammer, or be quite deliberate in an attempt to get banned, in order to get banned. Typically, he'd just have been banned after his first post for being a Drive-By Poster (since those types of posters rarely end up contributing to the forums in any positive manner), but he was given the benefit of the doubt, and several second chances. If you post something that violates the Code of Conduct that would disrupt the forums or is detrimental to the site, or something that is libelous that could draw EO into the fray, you get a warning.
In this case, he was given a
very polite Warning by a Mod, without even any points attached to it, which he ignored. Two of his more egregious posts were deleted, with a private notification as to why, and he promptly reposted the deleted posts. Then he was given a more public warning by me, which he doubled down on. He was then placed in the "All Posts Are Moderated" penalty box, which means he can still play, but a Mod must approve his posts before anyone sees them. He took exception to that and decided he'd rather be banned, so he was. But it took some real effort on his part to get things that far.
So while I may carry a big stick, I am reticent to use it without a
really good reason for doing so. The last thing I want to do is ban an actual expediter from an expediting Web site.
