Membership or certification does not guarantee more loads? It simply helps create reputation and opportunities to network with like minded peers. Seeing as it is a trade organization and it isn't owned by its members it is in fact a third party.

You seem adamant on your stance. But why you are choosing this fight is beyond me. I think CRE does things right. Should they choose to enhance the company thru TEANA membership, VOI, hazmat, white glove, brokerage or whatever it is the choice of the carriers management or ownership. I am sure Murray will pilot his ship as he sees fit.

discussion is good so a stance can be adjusted as facts become a little clearer....I am not as adamant as it may appear....just trying to understand whats involved down the road a little further....as in, look before you leap...

heck I'd even anti up the 600 bucks if thats what it'll take ....:p

why not the American Trucking Association as well?....heck lets go with the Teamsters while we are at it....
maybe have OOIDA represent my interests, they have great legal staff....

Come on Dave....that is to the point of ALMOST forced membership to achieve benefits from a closed shop....

give me your $600 and we'll see you get better loads and protection....stinks of racketeering. IMO

IMO this verification should be handled third party by people who don't have any stake in the business...

I don't agree with what your saying, but I also understand what your saying. You want a choice on who does VOI. I get that Ken. As far as TEANA goes, I support what they are trying to do. I'm not a member as of yet. It's not about the MONEY as you seem to think. The max a carrier would have to pay is $2000.00 per year. If Mayfield Express was to join, it would cost us around $600.00 a year or $1.64 a day. I seen what the benefits of what TEANA has done for other carriers. The Integrity that TEANA has can open the door for more freight from single source shippers. You have to look at the big picture my friend.

Yes, we are in line and on board with our fleet policy. We figured it would just be a matter of time, anyway. It wasn't a tough decision. Matter of fact it was one of the quickest business related decisions we made once it became clear that it was part of adjusting with the industry.

TEANA is TEANA. Although I'm pretty sure the organization has morphed a bit over the years, I'm certain that TEANA is still in the business (non-profit) of the protection of the carrier and the industry. Those are broad brush strokes but VOI is just one of the many ways TEANA is working toward those goals. VOI just happens to have been the brain child of TEANA, if I understand its origins. Any other industry group or committee could have done the same thing. Any.

Personally, not as knowledgeable about this who shebang yet, but have been and always will be 100% a member and in support of OOIDA...you have THEM (us as I was a member fighting for it) for the law making FSC be 100% passed to the person paying for the fuel
