I am confused a bit by your post. What does mexican trucks coming over the border have to do with the "fuel" situation?

What really gets me going is when you've got these total idiots saying the economy won't be effected until oil hits 140 a barrel.

Warren Buffet was on CNBC last week and he said said the price of oil going up will have no effect on consumers buying clothing or coca cola. Boy, I'm not even a billion dollar investor and I know that is completely wrong!

Toward the end of the trading session one day last week I sat and watched the price of oil jump 4 dollars. I was trying to figure out why because there was no news at the time. The lady on CNBC said it was the Electronic trading. Basically the robot trading programs will keep going the same direction the market went all day.

Look, You can sit online all day and read ideas about why Oil is so high right now. I don't know about anybody else. But I am more convinced now then ever that all this is, is speculation. Frankly, I am really getting tired of people saying "Green energy!!" "Stop driving!" "End our dependence on oil!"

90% of the people saying that are academics. The closest thing to real life experience in their life is asking for a #1 at Mcdonalds.

Bankrupting an entire nation through high oil prices isn't going to bring in "Green" energy. How are people gonna afford electric cars or the power to fuel their homes when there is no more money left because of high energy?

People can demand Oil companies to be called to talk to Congressional panels all day. They don't set the price of oil. All that is, is a dog and pony show.........

I would bet that if that total idiot as a president gets on TV tomorrow and says He's starting the process to take Oil off the trading market. It'll drop like a rock. I will also bet you that 6 months from now we won't have an oil shortage............

it was a two park question to the congressmen.........

I don't think mexican trucks should be allowed here either. PERIOD...What has Mexico given us to where we should allow their trucks in the US?

If Mexico doesn't want to hold up to our standards why do business with them? They have proven time and time again their government can't be trusted.........Until the rule of law is properly governed and they clean their act up...I see no reason to allow them here...

Mexican trucks are coming and were coming into states for long time, but only within the border area.

Gas prices are about more than just oil

"Unlike an iPhone or a pair of jeans or a Big Mac, oil and gas are commodities, and their prices can change every second at the New York Mercantile Exchange and other trading hubs. Those far-off changes affect the cost of the next day's commute."

It's speculation, pure and simple.

Wall Street to me looks like a giant slush fund. This may sound really simplistic. Last week I heard traders are taking their money out of the stock market and putting it into oil Quote "Because they are concerned about what high oil prices will do to the economy"

So they are lowering the value of the market because of high oil prices they are creating...I personally believe the market is overvalued to begin with

Now, I'm no professor in trading or anything. But, Why don't they just stop trading up the price of oil? lol .....They are taking money out of the market to put into oil because they are afraid gas prices are going to hurt the economy?

Traders have to be completely oblivious to reality.......THEY ARE THE ONES TRADING UP OIL PRICES!!

The devaluation of the dollar also plays a part. Granted not to the extreme and speed of change we are seeing but it is a part of the price change in many things today.

I listened to a bunch of crap on that XM radio about how we need to tap into our reserves and how we need this and that BUT you know consumption matters a lot, A LOT.

SO instead of dragging those mean old stinky oil guys up to congress and having them explain how the oil 5000 miles away is gotten out of the ground, transported 2000 miles to a refinery then shipped another 6000 miles to one of our ports then transported to a distribution point to be blended and than sold to a dispensing facility to be put into your tank for all that $2.5 a gallon of actual cost ... what we should do is to have regulations on trucking so no truck is ever used for a single shipment, every truck has to wait until it there is enough freight so only teams to drive it to the delivery.

Guess it's brain fart time for me!

The title of this thread led me to believe it had to do with mexican trucks coming over the border, not oil costs.
