I have my dad on Verizon pre paid and it works great for him. $50 a month for unlimited talk txt and data. Its a little pricey to start due to the fact that you have to buy the phone at full cost. However if you don't get a fancy smancy phone you can get off pretty cheap. I got a basic flip phone for $14.88 plus tax at Wal Mart. With the phone and the first air card it was about $70.00 to start. I also know another driver on the Verizon pre paid and she doesn't have any problems.

I have a Virgin Mobile (sprint network) for $35 a month. Add $10 if you talk a lot. Unlimited text and data. The phone I got is a Motorola Triumph Android for around $200. No complaints.

Anyone using a no contract phone with data plan and tethering it to a laptop ?

jimmy

I don't know how that would work. I know with Verizon on a contract phone the Mobile Hot spot add on is an additional $20 a month. If your using an android pre paid u might be able to purchase an app to use for wifi or tethering but I don't know that for sure.

my parents have the virgin mobile prepay phones and internet as well. My mom also uses their aircard for her online classes as well as streaming some tv shows. They don't really seem to have a problem with it unless they are in a deselet area.

Thanks for all the input. My contract is up and I just might go that route. Its still hard for me to conceive that I may go from a $89 700 min/ 1000 msg/ 2Gb. plan, to $50 Unlimited Voice/Text/ Data.
Must be something I am missing. All the plans I am looking at show phones you can purchase. Does this mean you can`t use your existing phone. Presently I have a HTC "Incredible" on Verizon.

I got boostmibole with Nextel and I love the Ptt on it. I have had Boostmobile from 2001 and I have had at least four Nextels. I seen online that Sprint is dropping Nextel service and starting up a new Ptt service with the newer CDMA phones. I will have give it up my wife wants a android phone. I look at them they look okay but I just hooked on my Nextel. So I have wait to see what is this new Sprint phone with Ptt is going to look like or is it as good as the Nextel..Thanks from Linda and Micheal

Why Your Next iPhone Should Be Prepaid
I took the brochure from Cricket several weeks ago into a VZ store with basically the same info and they did not want to talk and did a lot of back peddling and kept telling me Cricket did not have good service , they ( VZ) are full of decaying matter if u ask me, just stooges in a store, now read that VZ, hope they loose a ton of business,vz that is. Where are my calming pills:cool:
