NITRO

Hope to see dealers carry it, I know it keeps the pressure exactly the same is not gona loose pressure due to air temp or elavation. Also does not rot the inside of the tire like air that we currently use does.

Nitrogen not to be confused with Nitrious-oxide..(laughing gas) is very dry and does not heat up in tires like regular air, does not respond to changes in atmospheric lows and highs all of the huge mining operations use it in their loader/off road dump truck tires to extend the life of the tires.

I have it in my 70 charger tires mainly to prevent the wheels from corroding but have had the same tires on that car for 12 years.

all the welding suppliers have this stuff in LO/SO size tanks and its not really expensive.

Works great and many Goodyear dealers are starting to carry it. Remember not to mix any air with it. Its benefits drop dramatically with even a small amount.

I'm going to look for a source for my new truck. If I understand correctly there is only about 2% annual pressure loss rather than about 1% monthly loss with regular compressed air as well as virtually zero deterioration and decomposition of the tire or wheel.

Hi,

I have been recently exploring the idea of starting a business to convert tire air to 100% (actually 99.999%) Nitrogen Ingersoll-Rand and some others have developed a way to extract the nitrogen from compressed air ( currently air is about 78%) ..using a systems attached to a compressor....

I saw a setup at a CostCo...they do it for free (cars and members only)...

I hooked up with a guy from Colorado...who is also using a device to extract the old air out of the tire and inject pure Nitro..and can do 4 tires at a shot....

We are looking at setting up a portable station (perhaps a van or even a larger truck that could run a compressor off the PTO....our service would travel to truckstops and fleet owners and convert the tires for a flat price...and also do an inspection for tire wear and foreign objects or other issues.
We would charge about $10/tire and give you a written report...keep records on a laptop and notify you to have your pressure checked at regular intervals
My contact is also looking at setting up a way to do this with a vending machine (a high-tech air pump) like at gas stations nowadays
Only difference is the valve would extract your air and and inject pure nitrogen in...you would also get 4 valve stem covers colored green to signify nitrogen fill....
The technology would use an ATM like front-end device to accept cash or a credit card...and work like the self-checkouts at Targets and Krogers

Nitrogen fill could save millions in fuel costs over the years..lowering consumption...airlines and NASCAR already figured this out....

What do you think of the idea
???
I'm looking for partners....

I like the portable idea. As for a vending machine, it would be a tough sell. You additionally would have service and collection issues that would have to be addressed. Largest cost would likely be your placement fees.

Check the archives, I started a thread on this topic a couple of months back and posted some links to websites with some interesting information about the benefits of nitrogen.
