To small length wise, the one person who has posted in another thread who actually owned one was only getting about 15mpg.

Here is what some owners are saying in other forums.

"After the first tank or two I will post back with an updated estimate but just based on quick math and what the range indicator says on the dash which with a full tank said 444 miles divided by 28 gallons in the tank gives you roughly 15.8 mpg
'.

"Gave in and purchased a V8 version. First tank full was all highway at 65 mph and I got 15.5 mpg. This was with an empty van. Hope it get better as it breaks in"!

We drove to Nashville and looked at them when they first hit the dealerships. We were able to visit with the Rep that is in charge of the NV. We mentioned that it was just to short for expediting for our needs. He told us that an extended unit would be available in about 18 months. If the extended has 14-15 feet behind the seats, I think it may become a great unit for our business. Looking forward to the bigger NV.

If you don't start seeing better mpg results from actual users it is still going to be handicapped even in a longer version.

I haven't seen anyone say they get that yet. I think desparados post here was a test drive and it sounds like he might have been told the mpg by a salesperson. I could be reading him wrong. I have not found any actual users getting even 16 anywhere on the web. If it got up to even 17 on the long version it could be a nice option.

I thought he said he bought it, I could be wrong. My Nissan Titan only gets around 20 on the highway. I love the way it drives and all the power. The NV would be a great van if longer and if it did get decent MPG's.

Good to know your actually running one. I get the driving style I have been accused of driving like a grandpa on more than one occasion.

Do you have the six cylinder?

The best thing about the NV is that hopefully it will give both Ford and GM a kick in the pants to produce a factory high roof van for North America.

The NV looks better and better the more I hear about it. That is good mileage even if you drive it like a grandfather.
I just wonder if I could live with 9 feet of cargo space and living space combined doing expediting.

I just test drove the Nissan NV 3500 SV. It is such a nice vehicle. I was truly impressed. It is so comfortable. It handled quite well. it was beautifully designed and equipped. I was practically in love until I measured the rear cargo area. I have to have the seat all the way back since I am 6'5" tall. From the seat back to the rear door was a little over 8 1/2 feet. That means with two skids on board there is no room for any of my personal stuff. I also couldn't find a suitable place to mount an auxiliary battery.
I am disheartened.

I have said before that i think it would be a great van for local work...but in the current wheelbase it is a van...wait for the long wheelbase and then you will get those bigger loads that go into the sprinter type vans..I have 6ft of personal area and can still get 8ft of cargo in and if need be, I can turn that personal area into cargo area and have 13 ft to use...along with a 6 ft side and read door opening....

Buying a standard length WB van just limits you too much...yes the hightop helps, but the restrictions yo put on your ability to haul bigger longer freight and still be comfortable, is what you need in this business today..especially with more and more carriers turning away from CV's....

I'd wait for that longer WB..as for the aux battery...there is always somewhere, me i pulled the pass seat, installed a Frig, microwave and 2 aux batteries..for the most part, there is never anyone other then me in here..and if there is, they can ride on the bunk or in a folding chair...

"Sprinter Type Vans" Blah, blah, blah.....that is a common phrase these days.....but ya know as some tinker as Nissan has been doing it too is suffereing from price creep...

in all the cost of a sprinter is only 3k more then in 05.....

all that means is they were overpriced in 2005 also...:D

And not everyone will run one for 600,000 miles to get the ROI that you have....:D
