How many in here have "handles" or nicknames that equate to you hunting or fishing activities. On the "River" that is the Detroit River, I am known as the "Decoy Slayer". This is a skill in which I take great pride. I "earned" this nickname while we were filming the Gander Mountain TV show, "We live outdoors". Our show was shot at the spot where the "river" meets Lake Erie.
We were hunting divers, mainly blue bills and "Old Squaws" that year. During the hunt a pair of drake buffleheads came zipping into the decoys. If you have ever hunted buffleheads you will know that they come in low, fast and crazy. WELL, they zipped, I swung the gun, BOOM!!! the lead "buffy" gets splashed and most of the head on the decoy behind him sorta came apart. The camera man was zoomed in just right and this wonderous shot was captured for all time and for all to see!
Needless to say I took a "raft" (little diver hunter joke) "stuff" when I got back into the "mother boat" most of which is also on the show. Great fun!! That DVD is one of my most treasured memories.
Anyone else? I love good stories.
