Nice to be back

3 years on the road and then a major health issue with a family member took my wife and I off for nearly a year. Everything is taken care of now and we are returning to the life we love, expediting.
3 years with the same small fleet owners and not even one argument, so back with them.
3 years with the same company and no major issues, so back with them as well.
After being off EO for that time period I see nothing has really changed much on here as well.

We live by the rule, a job is what you make it to be.
Enjoy it and learn how to deal with issues or complain everyday about things you don't have any control over.
To each their own.

I do have one question.
Is a scale pass (straight truck) worth the money?
We were thinking about getting one just before leaving.
Again, nice to be back home.

I don't have a PrePass, but scales aren't really that big a problem, IMO, though others feel differently.
The EZ Pass for tolls is the one I don't leave home without.

Landstar charges us $2.50 a week for PrePass ($10.83 a month). It is worth it to us for:

- Fuel economy improvement. Fewer scale stops means less fuel burned when spending time in line with the motor running and accelerating out of the scales.

- Lower risk of a violation being found and fine imposed. We do, of course, all we can to keep the truck up and violation free, but the fewer times you are inspected, the lower the liklihood is that a violation will be found.

- Time savings. Time spent at scales usually happens when we are under load. The green PrePass light allows us to keep moving.

- Fewer scale stops: Not every Landstar Express America driver will agree with this, but it seems to Diane and me that we get more green lights because we are identified with Landstar than we got with our previous carrier. Landstar provides PrePass, thus the identification. Landstar has a good safety record, thus the greater number of green lights, we believe.

Thanks for the nice welcome backs and info on pre pass.
Sounds good, just wanted to hear from others with experience.
Had to smile when I went by a scale in Florida today in my car and trucks were lined up 22 deep waiting to scale.
Been there done that way too many times before.
