Greeting, I am thinking about becoming an OO again, in the expediting side of things. I have talked with 2 companies, Panther and Tri-state. I would like to get thru the Toledo, OH area 3 times a month for a couple of day's if possibe, any info on these companies would be appreciated.

My intentions are to find a truck and take over payments or buy used. Oh I will be running single. I was told that the engines in the straight trucks we not as durable as a tractor engine resulting in an inframe maybe at the 350k miles point, is that accurate information. Also is it worth the extra cost to purchase a tandem and refer.

I have more but dont want to get too long winded, thanks in advance.

Best Regards

Gerry

I don't have any experience with either of the companies you mentioned. I imagine it would not be too hard to get to the Toledo area when you want to with a little deadhead involved. I have the CAT 3126 that most people hate in my truck with about 600k on it and no problems yet (knock on wood). I would prefer to have a Class 8 but I bought what I could afford as a starter truck and its working out pretty good.

Don't ever lease from the people who load the truck. That's a conflict of interest on their part. For every success there are two hands full of failures. If you must lease do it through anyone other than who's booking your loads.

This is excellent and wise advice Leo for more reasons than I could possibly list. The biggest being if you split up with them it's worse than a marriage divorce and could cost you ALOT of money as well as your truck, insurance, plates, etc...
