Hey - I was attracted to the 'lifestyle' 10 years ago, and I'm still here! Course, I was driving a t/t then....
If you feel bored or inactive, that's a choice you made, because there's a lot you could be doing instead. I listen to audiobooks [anything from Dickens to steampunk] and it makes the tedious drives go by quick. As for inactivity, get out of the truck/van and do something! I've seen drivers with bikes, basketball & hoop, or just a dog to walk. You have to work with what you've got, but if you don't make it work, it's too much like work. Does that work for you?
Sorry to derail the thread, but newbies ought to hear it too, I think.
I was trying the save the op and I failed.
The lifestyle does have it's moments but as measured by an android app, the sound level in my truck is around 88 db. I don't listen to anything running down the road. I figure I'm losing hearing fast enough as it is. I'm taking steps to quiet the truck down. I even bought some expensive sound deadening material that I put on the firewall. I think that helped a little. A lot of the noise is coming from the sleeper area and the driver's door, both of which I'm working on.
The sitting in one place for all those hours doesn't get to you guys? Recent studies on office workers that spend all their time at desks are showing that an exercise program does them almost no good at all - desk people are killing themselves. Aren't we doing the same thing really?
Not trying to turn this thread into something about me, just responding to your good suggestions. Thanks btw!!!
Getting back to the op. I'd try to answer the insurance question but I've never leased on and don't they help with insurance? I'm paying around $3000/year for a commercial policy on my straight truck with no collision coverage and a clean driving record if that helps. Progressive Insurance can give you the details on what coverage you need and how much. (You might find cheaper insurance elsewhere though.)
