hi

been a truck driver for 20 years and now i want to go into expediting. have been reading up for a year now and i am ready to buy my truck. i live in the detroit suburban area which i understand is a good place to be. now i have to find the right company to sign up with. have read alot about some but not others.
can anyone out there tell me about ASAP.

also i which to drive solo for the first 6 months so i understand the bussiness and then hire a driver to drive team. do you think this is a wise move or should i just start out with a team.

I would check some of the archives to find information on ASAP. I know very little about them other than seeing some of their vans up around the Detroit area. Teams will always do better than singles, so you have to decide for yourself if and how you would want to proceed. Keep in mind that you will need more cash reserves going it solo in the beginning. Just something to consider.

i will check the archives and see if i find something.
when you say i need more cash is that becasue solo drivers get less runs or something else.

You will most likely experience less runs and shorter trips being a single driver. Keep in mind that some costs stay the same whether single or team. (QC, insurance, truck payment ect). That is why you need sufficent reserves in case of breakdowns or slow periods. Takes longer to recover these costs when running single.
