How many drivers would deadhead from around 200 miles out for a load in New York City staying In the NYC area on a Friday?

many variables here most importantly. Wheres this said load going to? AND how much for it? Are they paying the 200 mile deadhead?

I would prefer to avoid New York City if I can. As far as deadheading major miles to go there... nope. I prefer not paying to enter a place I'd rather not go and their tolls are industrial strength.

oh..and what truck are we taking into the Big Apple? B.C.D.E. ?

If you go in thru the Verazanno and out the GW there are no tolls except the Troggs Neck and white stone or whatever they call it.

I've found NYC to be kinda wussy compared to Chicago. IMHO.

I've done this many times over the years, but load paid enough to make it worth while, not just a load I could have picked up any other time.

Good point. Ok but which load? Was offered 3 total in NYC area last Friday all over 200 miles out one did not PU in NYC picked up in Boston area going to Brooklyn at 3am money was great on that one but the whole Brooklyn at 3am decided it wasn’t worth it.
Next one was think Newark staying in NYC, and offered a flat rate of 300 to do that didn’t see any profit in that it was during rush hr traffic. The 3rd one was impossible to make either of the PU times I don’t have a airplane.
Course if there would have been a way to of gotten all 3 loads would of made a good week but done the math wouldn’t of worked out plus would have been layover in NYC on any of them because of hrs of service would of never gotten not to mention tolls.

48 and 53 ft traileers not permitted in manhatten, except with over size permit,so no more free rides out of new york.
if going to jfk air port, cheapest way in is the gothels bridge, cheapest way out is the white stone, but if in a straight truck, just go out thru manhatten, its free to the gw bridge.

Based on your info you made a very good business decision. Weighed the options, looked for the combinations and made a decision. Very well done.

The one I was tempted on was on Broadway in Brooklyn and I think trucks aren’t allowed there either knows there are some places on Broadway that have low clearances. Been a long time since being there and was in 18wheeler then but some places it was easier to get a 53’ in with a cabover than my 300†wheel base straight truck.

oh yeah truck is 13' clearance and not sure if that included my QC

Two rules of thumb for me, if its going to N.C. I am on it. Otherwise I need 600 or more miles as I do not feel its worth it, driving there is aggriavating enough but the Tolls take a bite of everything. (my company pays a very low premium and no tolls into NYC) Everyones situation is different but this is what I do.

Same for Milwaukee, 600 miles or more, why going thru Chicago or AROUND it costs $.....
