Great changes

I have two suggestions

1 - Put the forum link on the tabs on the header

And

2 - It would be great to have both the layover guide and truck stop guide in a downloadable form (PDF or Doc file) so some of us can down load it and use it while we have no internet connection.

I tried to edit my post and got 500 errors. But when I returned I saw that the margin on the header has shifted over to the right with all the browsers (ie, Opera and Firefox) for the forum index page and the thread index page. This maybe a fixed width problem.
I checked my saved (off line) pages and checked them against different resolutions. I think (this is the reason I asked about what software you are using) that the changes are not allowing the browser to fill in the margins like the old software used to do. I find this problem in the recent ecommerce suite upgrades that i used, they upgraded the software and it messed up all the stores margins.
Not to criticize you or your web developers but I have a suggestion for future migration and upgrade. You should make all the changes on another server, if not at least a sub-domain, have all the testing done there and even invite people to look at the changes and make suggestions before going live. I only say this with years of experience in IT/software/web development.

Firefox, which I understand that this may be the problem with margins, but Opera and IE have a similar issue. looking at one old page and the new one, the margins are just a little too wide on the sides.
Maybe I am too picky about web sites.
Oh I am running 1280 X 800 which i know will affect things.

Hummm... Nice improvment overall as far as look and feel, but this forum S/W is buggy. It's a bit klutzy and now after the changes, more difficult to read when using a widescreen (1680x1050) resolution. I have to use the horzontal scroll bar to read messages (Firefox browser) since it does not adjust right or left margins sometimes. Other times, like right now, the message is compressed into a three inch coloum so I have to vertically scroll a lot to read messages!

You might look into php bbs software. It's open source, so no fees and more mods available than you could ever count. I ran a very active forum for two years using it and never had any problems. You can get more info at:

http://www.phpbb.com/

Then again, if what you are using is working w/o too many problems, no need to change... ;-)

Overall it's a very good look and definitely looks more upscale. I do agree it would be nice if the forum was the width of the screen in whatever resolution one is using. Mine is showing about 40% of the screen width so there's lots of up/down scrolling. I will say that is MUCH better than the old version that was about 1.5 times as wide as the screen sometimes and took lots of left/right scrolling. I'd vote to keep it narrow and scroll up/down if that meant never getting it too wide again.

We are still working on these issues. We avoid free S/W as they are prone to hackers. Thanks.

I also find the margins too large although you say this will be fixed.

It seems to me that all the pastel coloration is a bit lacking in contrast and tends to be hard to read in certain light.

I,am sure this forum change is difficult but the bugs will be shaken out in time no doubt.

At least you make an attempt to improve and advance.

Just my opinion.

Your margins are too large? What browser are you using and what is your screen resolution?

Thanks!

Margins are still an issue at different resolutions. We are sill looking at a few differnt issues. EO and our software predate all the new resoultions of the last few years. But alas - we will have a fix this week for sure.
