New Truck Cabs with Reman Parts

Hello Everyone,

There is a company here in MI that does not renew their fleet by buying new trucks every so often, instead they send out alot of the components to get remanufactored and order new Cabs. I wanted to learn a little more about this online and what the cost of such a thing is. If anyone knows of a website that i could read up a little more about this or what this type of thing is called so I could google it. So far i'm coming up short on all my searches.

Or if someone knows the process please share how it works, how much cost is involved in the cab, and how to you match up the vins, does this happen in straight trucks as much as in semi. Any info would help.

Thanks

Is it just the cab, or are they ordering glider kits? A glider kit is the cab, frame, and steer axle. Wiring harness and drive train are customer-speciifc. Schneider National just did, or is doing, around 6000 of them. They're keeping Detroit Diesel very busy with engine remans.

A fellow I know runs dozens of Cascadia tractors.
He just bought a Coronodo glider from Fitzgerald Trucks in Tenn. He loves it and the old Detroit is getting 20% or better fuel mileage.

I own & drive a 2009 Fitzgerald Glider.
best truck i ever owned.
VERY reliable, gets over 8 MPG, & never brake down (i think i said that already)
there's a lot to know B4! ordering one. it'll depends on your personal needs.
but the good news is the reliability of such rig.
right now Fitzgerald are some 250 trucks behind.
