Hello, new here, reading like crazy and learning a lot. I do have a question about running a van (10K lb) as an owner operator. I have set up in the past as an O/O on a semi truck under my LLC but not a van. What is required to get the van legally on the road?

USDOT Number, Operating Authority, Hazardous Materials (HM) Safety Permit, IFTA etc.?

Does the fact that the van falls under the 10K lb limit simplify things?

If you are going to be leased with one of the big companies you don't need to worry about paperwork. You run under their numbers.
If you want to work with brokers, you need insurance, none of the rest.
If you want to look for your own loads, even though according to DOT regulation being under 10k lbs you don't need to be registered, it will more than likely be required by anyone who would use you to haul their loads.

Thanks, that is what I thought with it being a van under 10K lbs. I'll get with mt local DOT and check with them.
