When I'm away from the interstate & looking for a WalMart, I just use the "Spell name" on the GPS. [Except in Michigan, it's Meijer] :D

The Rand McNally Gps has a "quick stop" feature that is seperate from the other POI that list all Walmart, "J", Pilot, Loves, Petro/TA, and Wilco...

Figures, I have the world's dumbest smartphone with no good aps. It's so annoying to read App only available on Iphone or Droid. I don't even have flash.

I don't know why I made a technology purchase based on a women's recommendation  palm pre ugh

Because you were always taught that women were always right:rolleyes:
Palm still makes phones?;)

Meijer's in Ohio, too, just not enough of them.
Reason I prefer The Next Exit above other methods is that it isn't limited to one subject [like apps]. It lists RV campgrounds, Blue Beacon truckwashes, drugstores, truck parts/repairs [Frieghtliner, Volvo, etc], Dodge/Mercedes dealers [for Sprinters], big box stores like Staples, Lowes [good when looking for a place to park the truck], and all gas stations [if you want to use a specific one] and motels, state parks - everything, in one neat package that doesn't require battery power, cellphone usage, or space on the electronic gadgets.

That does sound fun.

The low tech version is the book "10,000 places in America to see before you die" - lots of offbeat and quirky fun to be found between the covers. [No, Dakota, you're NOT gonna say it!] :p

Ok, actually I can't get the Pilot app to work. Its in a gpx mode and I need to convert it to OV2 mode. I installed POIedit, I can open the pilot file but it won't let me save it as 0v2, I'm obviously missing a step.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

I was using their FAQ How do I convert POI files to TomTom OV2 format

Call me a technotard, but my books never need instructions.....
Hang in there, Turtle probly has the answer and is typing his little fingers off right now.:D

The Next Exit is a book, it is available in Flying J's, it is really detailed. If you have an Android phone you can download the DAT app which finds truck stops, rest areas, and Walmarts based off of your current location.

The easiest way to deal with a Palm phone is to slam it into the pavement and get one with the Android OS.

Is The Next Exit a book? Sounds like a wealth of info

One thing I hate about my TomTom is that it doesn't have any Walmarts listed in it. It seems as if TomTom tried to get money from Walmart for a premium ad listing, didn't get any, so they said F U Walmart.

I'm surprised they sold it @ Walmart considering.

Its a great investment, u will love it, u cant o wrong.:D I to have an old tom tom, and walmarts are in there, but sometimesl I have to type walmart in the search mode.
