So 7 examples spread out over a years times doesn't seem like a reason to change something.
The 7 examples presented weren't intended to be the bedrock reason to change something. You asked for proof that people had asked for it, and I gave you that proof.
If anything compared to the number of people that didn't ask for it seems like the majority is loosing and things are being changed because of one or two strong willed people wanted it.
A), nobody has lost anything, as the "Like" button is still there, it didn't go away. B), I gave you a small sampling of people who asked for it, not the entirely of the requests. C), you have no idea how many people did or did not ask for it, much less the ratio of which any comparisons can be drawn.
If you didn't need or have to prove it why did you chose to with such weak examples and then think you have presented me with the smoking gun?
Since you think people explicitly asking for additional feedback buttons are weak examples of people asking for additional buttons, it's clear enough that no strong examples can possibly exist. I stated that people had asked for it, you said "Proof or it didn't happen," and I gave you the smoking gun proof that it did happen.
Was this your idea so you feel compelled to defend it?
Actually, no, it wasn't my idea. People have been requesting Unlike and other various buttons here for years. I simply did the research on the ways to implement those requests. I first introduced this particular implementation on the forums
back in October and the response I got was overwhelmingly in favor of this implementation, with not a single PM against it. I was my idea, however, not to use Negative ratings and instead make all of the feedback ratings a Positive rating. One, because negative ratings is counterproductive in a forum like this, but at the same time feedback such as Helpful, Not Helpful, Agree and Disagree, are all helpful to those doing research who need to separate out the useful posts from the not-useful.
