New Medical Certification Requirements:

Just how does this effect the driver of a commercial vehicle that isn't required to have a cdl (under 26,000 gvw) The state has no provision to accept medical information onto you dl?

just clarifying!
Below 26,000 gvw drivers are currently required to have chauffeurs license and DOT medical card. So the new requirement applies to them also.

I checked with my local DK renewal office in Ohio they have no provision for adding dot med cert to license not a CDL Ohio dropped chauffeurs years ago like 15 or more

Guess I was lucky to live in Indiana when I decided not to grandfather into a CDL. I had a Chauffeurs until 2004.

"Is it about a schedule, or is it about a desire to be healthy such that the desire is strong enough to overcome the inertia of the couch (bunk)?"

It may be a little of both.

I don't know. I DO know that when I was a semi-pro in the hunting and fishing industry and I was in the field several days a week, I dropped over 80LBS in 6 months. I felt good, fresh air, lots of walking. I also eat about 1/2 as much when in the field that anywhere else. I guess because both my mind and body are occupied.

This is a VERY BORING industry. It does little to force the use of brain power. It is also very difficult, at least for me, to get motivated to work out in a stinky parking lot, stinky gym or stinky exercise room in a truck stop. I don't do well when enclosed or surrounded by stinky stuff. Working out is also kinda "unnatural". exercise that is gained through work or play is "natural".

I don't know. As far as I know, this only applies to CDL holders. Because, like you said, the state has no provision for indicating any self-certification of what kind of commerce in which a non-CDL driver is engaged, much less any medical information for a non-CDL holder. Other than, #2 on the list at the link below, "If you are subject to the DOT medical card requirements, provide a copy of each new DOT medical card to your SDLA prior to the expiration of the current DOT medical card." So I would assume (which is something you should not do, ever, with the FMCSA) that the states will continue to do whatever they've been doing with medical information of non-CDL holders.

I agree with all comments about how crazy this is getting and I know it is impossible but you can't help but wonder about the look on the face of the FMCSA if every CDL holder in the country just threw there hands up and said that's it I quit! All at once!

It would be more effective if every CDL holder in the country dropped their drawers and mooned the FMCSA headquarters at the same time!

Don't see how mooning them would be more effective they would get A chuckle out of it i'm sure. I agree with runrunner but this new breed of drivers out there are too scared to run the show scared they will get repaced and scared of what the public might think of them. so I guess we just let yhe gov run the show for us as we hop into our trucks with our tail between our legs and whine about how we our being treated by the gov at truckstops and websites.

To be able to moon them we would all have to be there, stopped, out of our trucks. I think it would have GREAT affect. D.C. would be shut down. Mooning them is just a way to say, "Kiss my grits".

I dunno if we had about 1000 Expediters show up at the FMCSA office and park in the parking lot, start up our engines, Generators, CPUs and sit back and start watching a movie or doing paperwork, maybe then they might get the idea....a little passive demonstration that most of the NEW LAWS which are crafted by agencys standing to make HUGE Profits out of our wallets is nonsense.

With the Lobbists all standing in the middle of our circling wagon train....its not Safety, Its $$$$
