New Forum?

Hey Lawrence, what about a new forum for those of us who hunt and fish, say, a Woods and Waters forum. Do you think there is enough demand? Is there maybe a better way than a forum? Look forward to your input. Thanks Layoutshooter

Scuse me interrupting when you were speaking to Lawrence, but.... did you remember there are groups on EO now? I forget if they're called 'groups', or what they're called exactly, but you can start one yourself and invite other like minds to join you, and anyone else can join them also.. and in there you can talk about fish and guns to your heart's content without the entire membership having it in front of them.
Cool huh?

I seem to remember something about that, but, being not a computer geek I always forget how and where to look.:( Besides, if we put it in an open forum we might be able to "CURE" those who don't hunt or fish. While not hunting and fishin is a very serious disease, it is cureable. Those of us who understand the joy and freedom that being able to feed your self and family just have trouble understanding how you can stand "bought" food. LOL. I will say, I do prefere wild meat to the store stuff. Store stuff has no flavor or character. I guess in that respect it is very similar to most of our polititions!!!:D I will look into the group thingy, thanks. Layoutshooter

If you go into your CP (control panel) thingy at top of page (to the right I think), there is a side bar, which has a link to 'social groups'.. (that's what they're called!)
I personally like to fish on a very small scale cuz that's all I'm used to.. but I don't think I could hunt an animal, specially a cute furry one, nor would I want to eat one.
Cows on the other hand..
Anyway, I get your point about the flavor.. altho I haven't experienced 'wild meat', I can imagine the difference.. our family used to buy beef from a family member who had a beef farm.. and the difference in the meat was huge. In fact, it took some getting used to, but once used to it, it was extremely hard to go back to 'store bought' beef, when he stopped raising cows.
You must go nuts having to eat regular meat when you're used to wild meat!
When I think about what you must have to do to an animal after hunting it.. I get this picture in my head from a CSI autopsy, where they have the flesh and ribs pulled back.. kinda sick.. one time I saw a whole pig hanging there for sale, at the farmer's market.. I couldn't eat pork for a very long time.. so call me a suck! Just don't call me a PETA! I'm not that bad! Gotta have my beef and chicken at least :)

LOL. I never make fun of anyone who does not like to hunt or fish. At least not too much!!! Just remember a couple of things, 1: If you eat any meat at all you are responsible for its death, you just pay someone to kill for you. 2: EVERY thing that you eat was once alive, except yogurt, which is still alive when you eat it. 3: If you don't kill the cute furry animals and clean them before eating them they tend to kick and bite you and you get fur or hair in your mouth!! :D

Thanks for the stuff on the groups. I will look into them. That may be one way to go at this. Although, if it were in open forum a lot of the good fishing info I have could get passed onto a much larger group and long layovers might then be more fun. Just a thought. Layoutshooter

I love to fish, and I hope that I'll get a chance to go at least a couple times this summer.

As for hunting, while I love to go into the woods, I would rather shoot the cute furry animals with my camera. I used to go deer hunting with my ex, I even had my own .20 gauge. I only shot at one doe, and she was running across the field. My shot hit in the dirt right behind her.

I had more fun just spending the wee hours of the morning sitting in the woods listening to nature wake up and watching the sun rise. Well, that and just looking at the deer, which drove my ex crazy wondering why I didn't take a shot, and he could see the deer but couldn't shoot at them himself because I was between him and the deer. lol

One time I was sitting in front of a big pile of brush and apparently it was home to a couple rabbits. After sitting there for a couple hours, 2 rabbits came hopping up to within 6 inches of me trying to figure out what was blocking their doorway. lol That's what I like about hunting. :D

I love morels! Don't they usually appear in lower Michigan around apple blossom time? I haven't hunted for any of those in years since hubby doesn't like them. Don't be too hard on him.. he's from Oklahoma. lol

They grow most everywhere East of the Mississippi River where there are hardwords forests. I do think, however, think that no one else in the country understands the "Glory" that are Morels like we Michiganders do!! We should take great pride in that!! :D:D Layoutshooter

When I get to the house I will look up the name of a book I have on morels. They are VERY easy to pick. The book will make it clear. Also, check out the link below, you might be able to find out more there. Layoutshooter

NO I'm kidding.... I used to have them up at my place a lot of them. but someone seems to be getting there before I do. The alpine strawberries are missed.

Hey how about the Fuzzy cuddly bunny forum, are we going to see that come back?
