New bill takes shot at removing concealed weapon permit requirement

Supporters say gun ownership, as guaranteed by the U.S. and South Dakota constitutions, shouldn't be constrained by a permit requirement.

"I think that it's a restriction that's not necessary for South Dakota residents," said Sen. Larry Rhoden, R-Union Center.

Four other states allow concealed carry without a permit: Wyoming, Alaska, Arizona and Vermont.

I had an Ohio issued CDL years ago. I kept it until it was time to renew it, i gave it back the the sheriff (the agency for the state that issues them) and told them to remove my name from all lists pertaining me ever having been issued that "Permit" and did not renew....do i carry concealed? Who knows...thats why its called "concealed"....

So yea do away with the "permit"...i mean, you need a "permit issued from the state to defend and protect yourself with a specfic tool? We really don't even need the 2nd ammendment when you get right down to it....but it was put there to protect the people for a over zealous government.....

Yeah, I returned my freedom of speech permit and my freedom of religion permit, too. No one needs a permit to exercise a right.
