No problem at all - allow me to clarify:
Essentially what I was saying that you took a stand ("Controlling the outlet is NOT the answer") based on principle (ie. to follow the fundamental law of the land: The Constitution and Bill of Rights)
Further, I would assume that it would be your position that what has been released by Wikileaks may, in some way, endanger, or be detrimental to the security of our country - but despite that you choose to stand firm on the above principle.
I think you are correct in the matter, because violating the principle (prior restraint, unbridled restriction of a free press, etc) is a far, far greater danger to this country than perhaps anything else ....
Make sense ?
Yes it does. I am consistent on our Constitution.
Wikileaks, however, is NOT part of our "Free Press". They have an agenda to destroy this Nation. I doubt that they are, for the most part, from this country. Their "reporting" is extreme, biased, and VERY unbalanced. That, however, is NOT the fault of the internet. Our government has NO business controlling the internet or ANY type of news outlet or political speech.
While many in here do not agree with the idea that freedom REQUIRES responsibility, I DO!! A true "FREE PRESS" would NOT be biased. They would also understand that reporting just for reporting sake can be as harmful or even MORE harmful than no press at all. Pravda is just ONE example of that.
Our press has not been very responsible of late to say the least.
Inaccurate and/or irresponsible reporting has cost the lives of MANY of our fighting men and women over seas. That kind of "reporting", you know, going for ratings only, has cost many their legs, arms or the use of their brains. I learned much about what our "FREE PRESS" has done while sitting around our campfire this year. Talking with those wounded vets was a REAL eye opener, even for me. I knew it was bad but I had NO idea just how bad it is.
They are amazing men though, strong and proud of their service. It was a real honor to sit and listen to their stories. It was humbling to know that they felt "safe" with me and were able to "open up".
The "abuse" of a position or a "freedom" is just as great a threat to our freedoms as a government out of control.
