Anybody near the St Louis area heading back to Michigan, near Roseville or Clinton Township, Ive got a truck waiting for me and need to get there, trains are sold out till Friday, Buses are a 24 hour journey through the dark continent, Airfare is ridiculous....I live pretty close to the Flying J near Pontoon Beach IL off 270 in IL....If your passin thru headed north, send me an Instant message and Ill send my phone.
Ive got a new Used truck waiting for me in Michigan and been having a heck of a time tryuing to get back up there, The train tracks are under construction between Chicago and St Louis so limited seating is all sold out.....Im out of the rental and into the Used Expediter finally.

I can't offer a ride, [even though all roads lead to Taylor, I have no passenger seat], but have you considered a rental car? I've done the one way thing many times, it's not too bad.

Actually I did, without a Credit card your not a Human being capable of renting a car....Ive always paid cash for things, I have a bank card but thats not considered a true CC....SO....Im considered a less then human lifeform...

I have no credit card either. Some agencies will take a debit after placing a block on your bank account [was $400, last time I did it], others will run a credit report. Some companies only allow debit cards at the airport desk, so you just have to research what's available near your departure point, but it can be done.

Hertz will accept a debit card. $200 hold plus estimated rental cost.

I went thru all that Sunday, was told to go to National rental car only to be told sorry your CC is niot a real CC its A Sears CC.....AND DECLINED...Called around no go on the rental cars......thats why Im lookin for a ride, its either that or I wait till Friday when the Amtrak isnt sold out and I have a reservation. Most of the Car rental locations dont want to do a One Way and if they do want a "RETURN FEE" of 250-300 bucks, just dont have that kinda dough right now. Theres a HUGE Convention in town right now and many of the Train, Air and Bus routes are sold out.

Murphys Law.....strikes again

Now that I think of it, St Louis was one place I rented a one way car, for the same reason as you: to pick up a truck. It was near Anniston, Al, so I drove from St Louis to Birmingham, rode the Dawg to Anniston, then taxied to the truck - EZ, lol.
OK, not really, but we do what we gotta do or it don't get done.

If your credit rating is good, consider getting a CC online. In most cases, you'll be able to use it immediately.

Let me know if you get out of KC in the next day Id be glad to offer some gas or dinner etc...

....If the Convention wasnt here it wouldnt be an Issue but there like 45,000 Baptists in St Louis and the Transportation thats available is all set on PREMIUM RATES...I was wondering why the Trains and Buses were booked and Sold out, usually Ill take the train anywhere I need to, but with the coming Hi Speed rail the tracks between St Louis and Chicago are closed, so they offer ONE BUS to go at 6 Am to Chicago and its sold out solid till Friday....Ive got a reservation set for Friday on Amtrak, so if all else fails that will do.

If you do a one way car you just have to pickup and drop at airport. Hertz let me use my debit card and rented me the car one way. Like I said just have pickup and drop at airport.

Hertz will take a debt card. They just charge you the cost of the rental plus a two hundred dollar hold on your card that is released when you return there car. We use them alot.

I'm thinking a plane ride would cost less than staying in St Louis until Friday, plus the train ticket home.

I bought a one way ticket the opposite way (DTW-STL) for around $250 for a flight the following day. Kayak is showing flights tomorrow for $205.
