Need suggestions for GPS mounting

Hello, all.

Got a new Garmin GPS for my 4 wheeler recently. It has a double sided sticky tape disc with a suction cup that holds all this to the dash. The dash is rough and the tape won't stick. The suction cut will work on the windshield but it blocks my wife's vision. Any suggestions for another type of mounting?

Thanks

My dad puts his in the rear window. He listens to the voice telling him where to go. (I would love to be the voice just once! LOL) It works well for him.

3M makes a really great locking Velcro which I used on almost any surface in many vehicles without it coming off the dash, including one rather heavy ham radio. I clean the surface first then apply one part of the locking Velcro to the dash.

I don't remember who the company is but there's one that makes mounts that clip to your a/c vent. They make a whole lot of mounts for all kinds of popular gps, cells etc. so they might have one to fit. I suspect a google search would turn them up.

I wouldn't be able to use a gps with just the voice alone because it would then just blend in with all the other voices in my head.

Old Prof, If you wipe down the area with an alcohol wipe first where you want the tape to stick will sometimes work

Thanks, everyone.

I'm pretty sure the Ram Man is going to tell Sanny Claws to bring me a weighted base type mounting for Christmas. If they're in stock and my Mastercard doesn't bounce, it's a sure thing. Nothing like buying your own Christmas present!!

My Garmin came with a metal disc with that 3M trim tape on the underside. With the disc securely stuck to the rough surface of the dash, the suction cup hods the Garmin stand secure. I'd rather have the more movable non-slip dash pad.

Terry,

Go to the Ram website that Greg posted, punch in some numbers, and you too can have one of the weighted non skid base Garmin holders. That is what I have on order.

suction mount

For if and when you do use the suction mount, I found I like putting the gps in the lower left corner of the windshield along with the inspection and registration stickers. The gps is no more in the way than the stickers.
