I am about to start driving for Express Freight Logistics Inc out of Redondo Beach CA. I know I asked you guys about this company on another thread but I need some more professional advice. They have been in business for a year and I can't find any negative info about them anywhere online. The only thing that concerns me is that they pay every thirty days. They want me to run for 30 days and then bill them what they are paying me for each run!! Does this sound fishy? I have a contract that states that I am getting 60 percent of the gross revenue of the freight. So, what i'd like to know is, if they do not pay me after thrity days; can I take them to court and get my money? These guys seem like they are on the up and up, they have a pretty decent orientation, but i'm just worried about getting scammed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about fishy but I don't think I would like that at all. I like getting paid weekly. Layoutshooter

If they dispute your billing and hold your check back till resolved...can you afford 60/90 days to get paid....Be Careful.

That seems pretty unreasonable to me. Does this company also take a holdback or escrow? If not, perhaps that is their way of having something to fall back on, should they need to make a deduction from you?
You will forever be in a position of them owing you thousands of dollars. What happens when you leave?
If you run from Oct 1st-30th, submit your invoice on the 31st, how long do they have before they pay your invoice? I would imagine when you submit that invoice, it isn't going to be paid that minute? So how much longer will you have to wait? Do they also hold it back one pay? ie. run as above, submit invoice on 31st, keep running through month of November, then on Nov 30th you submit 2nd invoice, and get payment for 1st invoice?

According to what you have written, it also sounds like you will be the one responsible for keeping track of all the amounts, and invoicing accordingly. As the carrier, knowing who they dispatch the loads to, and for what price, and taking a cut, shouldn't they be the ones keeping track, with your information used as a check & balance? What if you forgot to bill one of your runs (I know this is not likely to happen, but stil!l), would you not get paid for that run?

I don't know, this doesn't sound right to me. Not necessarily 'fishy', but sounds like they're making you do the waiting for their company invoicing to be paid, which to me, is part of what you are paying them for, through their commission.

I've never heard of once a month pay in this business, ever. Weekly, bi-weekly, or twice monthly is the norm. A three week holdback in lieu of escrow would be fine. Having only been around for a year they could be operating on a very thin shoestring. To me, it just gives them control over too much of your money.
