:confused:Hi! I need some info.
I have a driver (Cargo van)who has 2 DUI's more than 5 years old. We want to keep him evan if we make less money. He drives cargo van.Panther, TriState, Express One, generaly the big companies, do not qualify him. My question is wich one of the small companies does the best in solo cargo vans.Good for me is average 1500 miles per week.Thank you!

I don't have any vans but from what I've heard 1500 miles per week for a solo van is not an average it's a miracle. I have no idea if they can help you but two small companies I hear mostly good about are C&M and TranStewart.

Mike, it isn't the carriers who are rejecting the driver, it's the insurance companies. And I would not expect any carrier, much less one who could be called "the best for cargo vans" to qualify a driver with 2 DUIs! You could make a list of all the carriers you can find, and call them all to ask, but I think it would be a miracle if you found one who would accept that driver, no matter how much you wish otherwise.

I agree with Cheri - it's probably the insurance that is the problem.

As far as averages go ..... I'm averaging 1502.57 paid miles per week in a Sprinter that can only haul two pallets (tall cargo van basically) That average is for the seven weeks I have been in service since switching to a new carrier at the beginning of December. I'm solo.

I don't think 1500 is that much of a miracle. It's a bad week when I don't get 1500. I'm in a Sprinter with space for three pallets. This week I'm going to finish with 2100 miles when I drop out on Sunday night and that's with three days at home. That much home time isn't normal but this week I've lucked out that I keep finding loads that bring me back by the house. I wish it could pan out like that every week.

Sorry to disagree, I say it's the idiot with TWO DUI's

No argument here, JJ - 2 DUI's is evidence of one who hasn't learned from their mistake. The problem is that of the OP, who wants to 'keep' the driver. Which leads to the question: for whom was the driver previously driving, if both offenses are more than 5 years ago?

I don't think it should be a problem, I think they fall off of the insurance records after 5 years.

Good one Jim - and spot on. :D

Having said that, I'd say that no infractions within the last 5 years might be some evidence of a change. I'd imagine that most all of us have something utterly stupid and irresponsible at one or two points in our lives ....... ;)

What say you ?
