My truck was abandoned

Maybe it's just me but I still find it really weird that this guy who is not mad at you, is getting paid by you on time and with bonuses...goes & hides your truck for no apparant reason other than being tired of his line of work AND claims to alledgedly trashes your truck. Strange!
Regardless, you definately should contact the state police & file theft & abandonment charges against him. Then when you do find your truck, if there's any damages, file those against him. Definately put all this on his DAC.
I know that if it had been me and one of my drivers showed up at my door to make these kind of claims, he definately would not have gone anyone where till the police arrived. I don't know what state you're out of but here in NY, some laws have been passed to make it easier for us to go after drivers who do this very same thing. Good luck to you and please let us all know how you make out.

It does sound like something is missing here. The dude just received a bonus and he does all this without a reason? I suppose its possible but I believe there was some prior altercation that has been left out. I still can't imagine anything that would justify this but there is more to this story. I hope you find your truck in good condition Ark.

If he walked to your porch, your truck is likely closer than you think. First thing is report it stolen. You probably have a uphill battle on charging this driver with vehicle theft since you let him drive it. More than likely is will be misuse of a auto, and that depends on your state laws. You can certainly go after him for civil charges. Now whether you are able to collect is another matter. Winning a judgement and having the money in your hands aren't necessarily the same thing.
As for the load, that should be covered with your load insurance. What course they go to collect could go many ways.
Good luck on what sounds like a mess.
I'm not sure why the guy trashed your truck just because he wanted out. Almost seems like there is something missing to this story.

Yeah, this story doesn't add up...He trashes the truck because he is tired of the road? He won't say where it is but he shows up on the front porch? He dumped oil on the new seats and took a dump on the floor? C'mon man... what's the real deal?????

For whatever he lied about trashing the truck because it wasn't trashed. Also the refer was left running. I've always paid the guy on time. We haven't always gotten along because he's done some dumb stuff. Like getting the truck stuck on the side of the road in Florida and instead of getting it pulled out he just sat there until Monday when his load should've been in Phillie. We had a big fight about that. He always kept the truck a mess a we fought about that. I'm sorry I want my equipment taken care of. He wants to run California and be home every weekend and it doesn't work that way. I also know his wife has been on his butt. Monday she called me and cussed me because he wasn't home enough. When I called him he cussed and I told him I had enough. So I guess that was the last straw for him, and he had his wife pick him up in West Memphis and he came home. He came to my house thinking he was going to get his last check. I guess we just butted heads to many times. I'm not going to say it might not have been better for me not to be so hot headed, but when I put money on the card for the truck to be washed every week and it doesn't happen and instead that money is used on everything else I get mad. Then he wants to get loud with me, and I get loud back. I'm parking the truck. I don't need this. I'll sale the trailer and keep the truck. If I get better I might get a hopper bottom and haul a little local grain to justify keeping my grandpa's truck. I'm glad yall like investing in equipment and everytime you see it, it's not being maintained. Then you come here and you're the bad guy. I didn't realize it was all my fault. Thanks for the clarifaction.

I'm not putting his name out their because as far as I'm aware it's against the Code of Conduct. If Lawerence says it's cool then I'll put it out there. Other than that I'm not going to. My truck is in my Dad and Uncle's possesion in good condition except for being dirty from normal use and it's headed north.

I'm gonna need some help pulling these knives out of my back. Hopefully yall don't accidently hire some crazies. Or maybe you should so you can see how people can put on a front to make you think their sane, and then the smallest things make the crazy come out in them.

Sorry to hear about your problem with this driver. Next time hire someone from your hometown to drive your truck. That way you can see your truck more and if it's being taken care of.

The following replies from our fellow brethren just gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside, it makes me proud that we can come together to help out one of our own in a time of need. Stay classy EO members, stay classy.

Ark, I'm glad you got your truck back in one piece.

Why was he able to "walk" off your porch? You should have immediately called the police while he was in the area.

I'm not sure why the guy trashed your truck just because he wanted out. Almost seems like there is something missing to this story.

But as Dave kc has mentioned, And I am thinking as well, why would he do something like that if you were giving him bonuses? Is there more to it?

Here is what I am driving at. How did he get "to your porch"????? As for going east, many won't run out there regardless of the money.

Why was he so P'ed off at ya?

Why do you not post his name? If the story is real he deserve it!

Well witness23 sometimes you will get those responses when partial information is provided. If you look at the first post and then look at post 25 that actually explains all the circumstances, it became much clearer. It took almost 24 hours to get to what really happened. Thus, the reason for those type of responses within that duration of time.
It is good news that he got his truck back.

Yes, when you have to "fill in the blanks", minds really wander out here. Joe has a few posts on here championing the "po lowley driver", and I spose his view has changed a bit. Regardless, a word to the wanna be truck or fleet owners out there, at the very first signs of dumbitis, don't wannas or your driver spending too much time hunting the roast goose, discretely get your truck back and park it, because that kinda bad news, "don't git better with age"!

Joe don't be offended but when you say the guy poured oil on your seats, dropped a "deuce" on your cab floor and left a box of cluckers to rot it begs for answers:p
Just saying

Well Witness, can I call you Witness?

My post referring to being able to "walk" off the porch. Means that one of us would not be capable of walking off of the porch. Craw, limp, slither, maybe, but not walk.

If someone came to my porch and told me the same thing that Ark was told, I can almost guarantee that one or both of us would be injured.

As far as immediately calling the police, who better to call?

After reading this post, I think I would be better off just selling my truck, instead of putting a team in it.

Don't let my experience hold you up. Everything will work out for me, and I know it will for you as well.

All of us fleet owners have had a bad experience at one time or another with drivers. It comes with the territory. Don't get scared off. There are risks in everything nowadays.

Quit trying so hard to be offended

That's actually pretty funny, I think there are few in here including yourself jaminjim that just might want to take their own advice.

Just for the record I was not by any means "Offended" as you say but rather surprised in the responses that were given as you might have guessed by my previous post as I pointed them out so clearly.

The hubris that is displayed on these forums are sometimes unbelievable.

Oh....and jaminjim the preceding comments should not in any way be taken as being offended just observations.
